Time immemorial before machining technology developed as now, animals are widely used as tools in everyday human activities. One of the most commonly used animals is horses. But what is the relationship between units of engine power by this animal? Let's follow the reviews here.
The horse is the most famous animal in the golden age and as one of the most qualified transportation equipment. Many people use horses for battle, move the machine tools, interesting vehicles, and so on. In addition, the horse has a very good stamina so much used to help human beings every day.

But where lies the relation to a unit of power machines? This began during the industrial revolution was booming. In 1698 Thomas Savery, a military engineer in England found the first steam engine in the world. The steam engine invented by him serves to pump water out of mines.

After Thomas Savery steam engine was first found, Thomas Newcomen steam engine developing next to simple machines made by Thomas Savery. Then James Watt developed the steam engine which has been developed by Newcomen who assessed less efficiently.
At the time of the industrial revolution, much less start a horse that is used for the purposes of helping humans. This is due to steam engines more efficient and better for use because of the absence of the term "exhaustion" and "sick" and not have to bother taking care of a horse. So, at this time, the horse began less popular used as means of locomotion of a tool.

This steam engine of progress, encourage the engineers to make a comparison of the power produced by an engine with the number of animals used. It aims to demonstrate the performance generated by the engine capable of at the time of work. Making it easier to find the right power needs in an industry and in the marketing process.
To facilitate this, the required power unit as a comparison. Since earlier still using horses, the engineers compare 1 machine can replace how a ponytail who works as a resource. Because of this, the unit horsepower is attached as a unit of power produced by an engine. The engineers agreed on this idea in order to facilitate them in designing, calculating the power needed for an industry as well as the amount of power generated by a machine.

This continues and causes any power produced by the engine is equated with horsepower and this is the basis of why the engine power units with identical units of horsepower (Horse Power) until recently. So do not wonder why a sales brochure on the machines, be it electric machine and gasoline engines, and others use the term horsepower as a unit of the amount of power that is able to be produced.
What is the unit of power generated from engine is only horsepower ? many of the units used to demonstrate the capabilities of the machine. But we discussed in my next post.
You do know its history, isn't it? may add your knowledge and wait for my next post.
