In the beginning was the farm, the farm was rooted in agriculture and agriculture is the modern farm.
The concept of agriculture wasn’t just coined out of nowhere but birthed out of nature, man’s closest neighbour.
A close examination of agriculture in Nigeria, African and the world at large, has revealed overtime, that its efficacy in national development cannot be taken for granted, neither can it be overemphasised.
The various quarters that surrounds it has continually shown that man’s survival centres around it. Any mistake to overlook its practice can cost the whole world.
The normal human cannot view agriculture in terms of planting of crops and rearing of animals alone and cannot expatiate what agriculture is known to be in this age of civilisation and revolution.
Before now, agriculture has served as a major source of finance for many African countries, whose back when relied on, has never for once weighed them down in as much as efforts and strategies is been geared towards it.
The passion and drive injected into this profession by unlettered farmers had yielded and continued to yield result since the reason behind farming had continually giving them joy even as small scale farmers.
Suffice it to say that the old way farming catapulted Nigeria during those days, it’s a high realm of economic procession with our economic boat, sailing smoothly. Both small scale and large scale farmers were successful, commonly respected in the society.
since farmers were known as kings according to Yoruba (Nigeria) phrase ‘Agbe Loba’.
Consistency in Agriculture production or produce had revealed humanity from a bane of hunger yet the absence of consistency has brought about the point of starvation, malnourishment and even death as many African now, has have access its food, balanced or not balanced regardless.
The aforementioned cannot be shy away from due to the abuse of youths and able bodied men in the agricultural industries, and so sad however, that only aged ones have been left in the business where all other businesses are thrived. Yet to be said emphatically, that, casting away the gold-grounded agricultural business which is our major income and boasting source for another may be lucrative enterprise is like seating on a coal of fire because;
when the going gets tough, only the tough gets going.
When the oil we are boasting in fail to deliver as expected, agriculture remains the place of refuge. Why not isolate the former and make the latter a second force of command?
Did I hear any youth say agriculture is tasking and makes men remain poor?
Far from it! Here comes the place of technology in the field of Agriculture.
Integrating technology into agriculture.
Heaven known nowadays, the world revolves around the ovation of technology and technical inputs in diverse aspects of life, and business, agriculture is not taking the back seat in this regard, as the integration of technology in holistic process of agriculture has allowed for less spear of human resources and faster, better productivity beyond the archaic definition of agriculture.
The presence of technology can now give filling to youths out there who loves farming but are concerned with living a fulfilled life that gives in for prosperity.
The era of “farmers are poor mentality” has by the reason of introduction of technology, gone into extinction as farmers has been given the chance to make impact on the society and still make their families enjoy the sweetness of life.
With the aid of technology, farmers can now export their products and get paid almost immediately without any hiccup or problem in transference.
They can be paid in hard currencies. They can now smile, wear good clothes, cruise good cars, feed their families well and be better integrated into the society.
By the reason of technology, both the society and farmers can now live in good wealth and health. This era of agricultural technology has the power to curb the menace of unemployment and social vices in our country which has also led to irregular migration of youths from the country, to trauma, trafficking or death on their ways to Europe.
Therefore, technology is an asset Agriculturists must embrace speedily and quickly get themselves baptised into to aid food sustainability and further benefits.
Technology has increased proper financial transaction between people living in different parts of the world.
Today a Nigerian doesn't have to travel round the world to buy product or machines for his farm. With a click on the internet, transactions can be made so easily.
With careful search on the internet on where to buy quality products and equipment are no longer problems to the farmers because the internet technology provides a wide variety of information to the farmers.
Thanks to technology!

I love to garden and grow fruits and veggies.
A solid and respectable passtime and profession.
Interesting to see how you regard this career. Of course, it should not be abandoned by new generations, and may not be regarded as a highly mechanized and automated at this time, but should be seen as the future for Nigeria!
@surfyogi thanks for coming around boss.
Agriculture is life, but most youth like I have said abadone it for the elderly to do with the mentality that "fammers are poor".
Am sure in Nigeria when we wake up one day and realise the oil has gone solo, all families will match to the field for cultivation. I pray it doesn't get to that first before we learn.😀
