Number of US and Russian Nuclear Explosives
The Soviet Union had surpassed the United States in nuclear warheads in 1977 and missiles in 1969. The United States' nuclear capability had reached its maximum number of 31,255 units in 1967, while the Soviets reached 45,000 units in 1985.
At present, under the terms of the agreement, Russia and America twice a year, on March 1 and September 1, will exchange information on the status of each country's nuclear forces. On September 1, 2014, Russia has 1,643 nuclear warheads in various mediums, while the United States has 1,642 warheads.
