In this reaction a magnesium wire was placed at the bottom of the tube. There was a layer of water seperating the magnesium and hydochloric acid. In the first picture you can see hydrochloric acid traveling through the water after the tube was inverted. It looks kind of clear but your vision through the tube is more distorted than regular water.
In this second picture the hydrochloric acid traveled down to the magnesium wire producing all the bubbles of hydrogen floating to the top.
It was a fun reaction to watch. I was planning on uploading a video here on Steemit, but I believe you can only upload pictures for right now.
