RE: It's Time for STEM to Have its Own Home on Steem: Announcing steemstem.io

in #steemstem6 years ago

Just had a look at your app. It feels fairly user friendly. It is much easier to find content using the headers rather than just searching through tags.

I'm a little sad there isn't an economics category. Would you consider adding one? It does have it's own Nobel Prize. Also I happen to be a professional economist, so I am little biased on that part.

Sort:

I will add your suggestion to include a specific tag for economics (or perhaps a drop down under math?) To our list of community suggestions.

Thanks for checking it out!

That's great, thanks.

I've added it under mathematics, let me know if you'd prefer it under 'more' or whatnot. I don't think we get much action in economics but let's see if that can change =)

It's not technically STEM, but then neither is psychology or history. We allow social sciences!

Thanks @mobbs for adding economics. It is great that you responded so quickly to my feedback.

Economics can be quite mathematical. Econometrics, game theory, general equilibrium, cost benefit analysis, and national income accounting involve the application of mathematics but economics is not a type or subset of mathematics.

I think economics would probably fit better under 'more'. I am not sure how many people would search for economics under mathematics as there are also many areas of economics that are not mathematical.

Hopefully, we should see a few posts come through relating to economics. Financial posts could also fall under the category of economics.

Thanks again for your suggestion (which is now more than a suggestion: it is part of our App). We will rediscuss the exact category sorting late this month so that economy may eventually move. But for now, I guess it will stay there.
