RE: Defining time with atomic fountains

in #steemstem7 years ago

Hi @lemouth! Quite interesting knowing that "Quantum mechanics however tells us exactly how much energy is involved in a specific transition, and that this value is unique."

I am not expert in Quantum field. But I have a strong believe that the future belongs to Quantum Technology. From China's Hackproof satellite to a replacement of earlier transistors used. Quantum is leaving behind everything and unfolding lots of mystery in technological world as well by providing a complete solution to almost everything! :)

I have learnt many things here such as - 'In order to slow down the cesium atoms and cool them down, the idea is to bombard them with a bunch of lasers with the right frequencies, as depicted in the picture on the left.' , '
After being cooled down, the atom are thrown upward, at an altitude of about a meter, and they then fall by gravity. The setup is called an atomic fountain.'

This post is quite educative for me! Thanks for bringing this post. :)

There is still a lot to learn with respect to quantum technology. I think we will see breakthroughs kind of very soon... Well in fact I hope more than I think.

Going back to the atomic fountain, the interesting fact is that they are designed for many many years :)

Thanks for this educative information!! :)

Looking forward to read and learn more from your articles!! :)

You are very welcome. However, I won't write on this topic ;)

Then I will wait for the another topic to be written by you!! :D

Hopefully this week (am really really really busy) :)

No worries!! I can understand.. :)

Actually more probably next week. This week was taken by something else ;)
