Life is truly unpredictable! We were planning to surprise you next week with our first story, but the fate had completely changed our plans and added yet another unexpected adventure.

Where are we now & What are we doing?

In our introduction post we did not mention where we are and what we are occupied with right now. Well, we are currently in Germany, Baden-Württemberg, near Freiburg, where, like thousands of other Poles in emigration, we have worked in an attempt to save some money for the announced journey. I used past tense deliberately since the company in which we were employed reduced the number of employees by ~80% overnight! Unfortunately, we were not on the list of "survivors" and we got 4 days to leave the apartment where we are right now.

And that's how we found ourselves in a pretty difficult situation since:

We have lost our job,
...and the apartment,
Our planned, mysterious trip was called into question.

What's that mysterious trip that we wanted to surprise you after the event?

SteemSTEM Meetup at CERN

This will be a meetup of SteemSTEM community at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)! Participants will have a chance to see Large Hadron Collider from only a few meters away and to see the Microcosm and Universe of Particles exibitions with the founder SteemSTEM @lemouth as a private guide!

OK, but what is actually SteemSTEM?

SteemSTEM is a rapidly developing community of Steemians, which brings together and supports people who publish high quality, scientific content. You can find these contents under #steemstem tag. What are we going to do now?

As we have already mentioned, our presence there has been called into question. While living 300 km from Geneva, we;ve been a "stone's throw" away for SteemSTEM meetup, but the situation became more complicated when we lost our accommodation.

But do Steem-Hikers give up? No way! We cannot miss such a unique opportunity to meet fantastic Steemians and visit the greatest scientific project that mankind has ever created! Tomorrow we set off on a hitchhike to Zurich, where @ceybiicien's friend lives. They've met on the road one day and invited us to stay at his place until our departure for CERN meeting. You will probably get to know him in our next entry! However, we still are looking for the accommodation from Sunday to Monday (since he can host us from Monday onwards), but this is the smallest issue we have - we've "been there" many times during our travellers' life.

What will we do after the meetup? We have no idea! We can tell you now that we have a flight to quite an amazing country on 20 March, where'll star for few months trying to save the funds for travel. We cannot and do not want to rely on Steem earnings - we treat it as a pleasant supplement and a backup. Until the time of departure we have to base our funds on a more conventional form of earnings :) We have no idea what the next weeks will look like. By 20 March, we have no plan in mind. It is in a way a foretaste of what will await us during our great journey, because the Unknown is a constant companion of our travel style. What will happend? We'll soon find out, both you and us!

Baden-Württemberg

While we were in Baden-Württemberg, we didn't have much time to visit the surroundings, but we managed to pull out for a small trip. Here are a few pictures from the areas where we lived and from hike to the top of Belchen (1411 m). Unfortunately, all pictures are taken by phone. However, we are planning to invest in camera in the near future in order to provide you with better quality images. See you soon!
