Sabinella Troglodytes or S. Troglodytes is a small marine lifes, it is one of the species of the small sea snails. For your information, these small sea snails are one of the species in the Eulimidae family which is called marine gastropod mollusk. This parasitic snail lives and survives on the body of Eucidaris Tribuloides, a slate pencil urchin that can be found at the coast of Brazil. This small sea snails shell can grow as long as 4.1mm in length maximum and 1 mm minimum. It lives in the sea water at depth 46m, and it lives and feeds the spines of the slate pencil urchin(sea urchin).

To gain access to all soft internal spine tissue of a sea urchin, S. Troglodytes need to lose its radula. This process occurs when S. Troglodytes secrete a corrosive substance, this corrosive substance can help the small sea snails to eat the tough wall of the sea urchin spine. There are not eat the sea urchin spine only, but they make the urchin’s spine as their home sweet home. They will alter the urchin’s spines to make it more comfortable to stay there. For your information, S. Troglodytes is a small sea snail that will parasitize the echinoderms. But, how the S. Troglodytes alteer the sea urchin’s spines still unknown or the sea urchin might be altered by using their saliva. Growth factor might also spit out by the S. Troglodytes to erode the sea urchin’s spine. Thanks for reading my short writing, keep following My Biologist’s Adventure.
