RE: Is it okay to comment but not upvote? All signs point to yes

in #steemthought8 years ago

I enjoyed this post.. but left with the question.. when I upvote something I lose my upvote "charge"? What is that? I'm a new user today and just started reading a bit about it. A friend of mine was up voting all the things he liked. To me it makes sense to both comment and upvote things you like. I don't know why would you chose?

There is a thing called Voting Power that you can view at Steemd (I linked to your profile for convenience) that decreases a little bit every time you upvote something, and recharges slowly over time. The less voting power you have, the less rewards you will get when a post pays out. It was added to penalize bots that used to just upvote every single post.

If you go to Steemd.com/@cloudhead you'll be able to see your profile. Another, easy to view site is Steemstats.com - in the upper left box enter your username and it will show your voting power. This will diminish with each vote you cast, and will recharge over a fixed period. It's pretty cool, in my opinion.

That is neat.. I think I might be too new to show up on there yet though. I wonder what the recharge period is. I upvoted your article btw :P

I just looked you up, you're there :)
