Wouldn't it be nice if we could get paid for sharing our pictures online?
Greetings, friends! I was recently granted access to an app that I have been waiting to be released for so long: the @steepshot iOS app! I guess I need to back up a bit and explain what Steepshot is, for those of you who are not familiar with it yet (which honestly is my main target audience for this post).
Steepshot is an app built on the Steem blockchain that functions very similarly to most people's favorite photo sharing app, Instagram. You post photos on it and people who like them will upvote your pictures, and you can also explore other people's pictures and upvote them too. Like I said, very similar to Instagram. But what sets it apart from Instagram, you ask? Why should YOU, the Instagram user, even consider moving to @steepshot?
From the Steepshot website FAQ:
The main difference is [its] decentralized nature and crypto rewards. Today users all over the world spend around 150 000 000 hours daily on Instagram. Instagram capitalization is now somewhere between $35-84 bln. However, the platform still never rewards users for their contributions and has the right for content censorship.
Our project provides [a] blockchain-based censorship-resistant way of sharing photos.
Sounds pretty amazing, right? I mean, who wouldn't want to get paid for just sharing their photos with everyone online? So here I am today, writing this guide for all of my fellow iOS users to show you all how YOU can start earning money for sharing your timeless moments with the rest of us. There is also a @steepshot app on the Google Play store, but because I am an iPhone user, this guide will be for the iOS app.
[EDIT]
As of 03/27/2018, the @steepshot iOS app is officially LIVE on the App Store! I'm so glad I got to be a part of the beta testing period, doing my part to help the official app get launched. You can find the app in the iOS App Store by searching for "Steepshot" (or by clicking here) and it should bring you to this screen:
Hit that "Get" button to install the app so you can be on your way to making money for sharing your lifestyle visually with the world!
Now that you have the @steepshot app installed on your phone, we can begin :)
When you first open the app, you will see this screen:
When you click on the "Sign in" button, you will be taken to this screen:
Before you can actually push either of those buttons to move to the next screen, you will have to make sure that the slider at the bottom is activated:
If you don't have an account on the Steem blockchain yet, you will have to click on the "Create new account" button, which will take you out of the app and into your browser to create an account through the Steemit website. If you are a personal friend of mine, and you don't feel like waiting for your account to be created, send me a message and I can personally help you get an account created in just minutes. The normal account creation process through the Steemit website could take anywhere from two days to several weeks.
After you enter your username and hit Continue, you will need to enter your email address so that you can be notified when your account has been created.
Next, you will have to enter your phone number. I believe this is done to verify that you are a real human being and not a bot, but don't quote me on that, lol.
After hitting Continue, you should get a text message with a code to enter on the next screen.
After you enter the code and hit Continue, your account will be in the account creation queue, which, as I mentioned above, could take up to a few weeks to push through (but most people get approved within days).
Once you have a Steemit account created, you can go back into the @Steepshot app and link your account to the app. Click on the "Sign in with Steem" button to get started.
Enter your account name and hit the "Next step" button.
For the next step, you will need the Private Posting Key for your Steemit account. You can find this by going to your Wallet on the Steemit website, clicking on the Permissions tab, and pressing the "Show Private Key" button.
Copy that string of characters, paste it into the Steepshot app, and hit the "Sign in" button. Alternatively, you could also scan the QR code, if that's easier for you (and if you are viewing the Steemit website from a desktop computer).
That's it, you're in! The first screen you see is your "Home Feed," which will show posts from people you follow.
If you click on the Globe icon next to the Home icon, you will see posts from other people on Steepshot. "Hot" will be populated with posts that have gained a lot of upvotes or funds in a relatively short time, "New" will be populated with all the newest posts, and "Top" will be populated with the posts that are earning the most at that moment.
To post pictures on the app, you will have to click on the Camera icon at the bottom. The very first time you do this, you will have to grant permission for the @Steepshot app to access your camera and photos.
Once you take or select a photo to post, you will have to enter a Title, Description, and Tags for your post. You can add a maximum of 20 tags per post.
Once you hit that "Publish Photo" button, you will be taken to your Profile.
You can adjust the view style of your profile, from the default single photo stream view, to the grid view, by hitting the two-bar icon in the upper right-hand corner.
That's it! Welcome to the amazing world of Steepshot and Steemit! I hope you enjoyed this guide. If you found it helpful, please consider leaving an upvote and also please consider resteeming it so that other people who are curious about Steepshot can see it, too! Thank you so much for your time!

Very solid, upvoted, resteemed, approved to the Steepshot group, and I'm letting you know I'll add it to my steeply digest next time I post
Thank you so much @scottcbusiness! I'm actually a little disappointed that it hasn't gained more attention/upvotes by now, but oh well haha. I really wrote it just to write it because I wanted to bring more people onto the platform...if it manages to pique the interest of even just one person who isn't on Steepshot and/or Steemit yet, then I have succeeded :)
Yeah it's unfortunate when you write as much as you did abs don't get noticed. Soon enough my friend 😁🙏
Awesome post Thanks for the insight into this new app.
keep up the good work.
Thank you!
Could you help me with the error i get when i try to login to steepshot "Enableconnecttoblockchain"

Congratulations! Your post has been selected as a daily Steemit truffle! It is listed on rank 3 of all contributions awarded today. You can find the TOP DAILY TRUFFLE PICKS HERE.
I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 25 SBD worth and should receive 123 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.

I was really in love with Steepshot until I found out the percentage they take from each post, I still think Steepshot has a very friendly UI and I think it's a great app for newcomers who want to join Steemit, but don't want to go through the steep learning curve.
Is it for i-phone only or could be to another smart phone?
Resteemed you
