I disagree with the last school of thought. The honeycomb is definitely hexadecimal for a reason which I believe is to cover more area as you rightly stated mathematically above. I've not really thought about this.

I think so too, just that one should not be too sure of things of this nature as sometimes there may be some truth to it. Thank you.
