The Difference Between Black and Gray (on Steemit)

in #stemt7 years ago (edited)

The difference is so subtle that you might not have noticed it!

Can you see it now? The top title in the screen shot below is gray, and the bottom title is black.

Post titles across all of the Steemit screens come in two different colors:

  1. BLACK (hexadecimal color code #333333)
  2. GRAY (hexadecimal color code #777878)

So after I noticed the difference, I wanted to find out why there was a difference.

Black Titles

A black title indicates that you have not clicked on the post after if was published.

Do you want to find article that you have NOT yet read? No worries!

All you have to do is look at your home screen and find the articles that are still black.

This also applies to the following screens:

  • new
  • hot
  • trending
  • promoted
  • screens related your your blog

Gray Titles

You guessed it! Gray indicates that you have already clicked (and presumably read) and the article/post.

Conclusion

Now granted this knowledge will not be life changer, but I see how how it could be a game changer. The slight color differences in titles can help Steemit users process Steemit posts more quickly.

If you are following hundreds of people then you want a quick and easy way to know what you have read and have not read.

Are you searching through hundreds of new, hot or trending articles? Remember this little trick and you will know what you have read and what you have not read.

Kinda simple, but really good to know. Now you know the difference between black and gray on Steemit!
