Chart analysis is more popular now than ever before. With the invention of Twitter, Stocktwits, Reddit etc. and countless discords, it seems everybody and their momma wants to be a trader. Why is that? The main reason is access, peoples access to computers and the internet. There are many Apps that make it possible to trade from even your phone. There are more brokers willing to take your money than ever. Take your pick. Some with low minimums or none at all. Fees are lower than ever and in some cases no fees at all nowadays. There is new asset classes like Crypto and NFT's. There is more charting software than ever before with more people coming up with there own algorithms and there own indicators. Available to all for cheap and sometimes free. Another reason is peoples access to fundamentals through the internet. A companies information is right at everyone's fingertips. Most of that information is free or very cheap.
There is "live" market data. Anyone now can be a day trader and live market data helps day traders live and die. What about Youtube? You can get free classes from novices and experts willing to teach you what they have learned. Now, most will have the free stuff on Youtube that gets you a foundation but will charge for the rest of the information or real strategy's. There are books you can buy and courses you can pay for in abundance. People are taking advantage and everyone is jumping in.
Despite all of that, only 3.5% to 4.5% are successful. Why is that? Well, while anyone can be successful, most do not have the discipline and patience to practice a strategy or strategies until a consistent profit is attained. People are told they will not be successful right away but most newbies do not believe that. The greed sets in and they think they are so smart. Only to learn the hard way. Some get lucky right away but that is all it is. They will be eat up and spat out eventually and not know why. To be consistent is hard work. It takes time and many years of losing from my experience and most do not have the will, courage and conviction to continue. I do not care how much access is out there. That is the game and there is much more to trading than access and information. If you put in little time and practice into trading your success rate will be little to none.
