Panama City, Fountain and Calloway...all still in a state of destruction three months after the storm. Almost seems forgotten about at this point. FEMA past through and must have kept driving....after showing up late. The communities here are still in great need of volenteers and donations.
Many people are still living in tents. Lots of people are in need of food and cloths. Even the wildlife is still getting back to normal. With so much loss of trees birds and other small animals are also without homes.
There is a lot of work left here in these communities and not enough hands to make a real fast difference. Some cant fully afford the expence to repair the homes they own. Most have not recieved proper help to meet this crisis.
The sound of chainsaws and trucks filled with stumps and brush can be heard around the clock. Clean up crews are busy everyday but the progress slow.
It rains here very often...making it even more difficult to clean up all of the rubble and debri that is both scattered and piled along the roads and driveways.
The lack of trees to drink up all of the rain leaves massive puddles that stand above ground for days at a time.
Donations can be made online at the Green Hills Community Center on facebook...or leave me a reply and I can put you in touch directly to proper organizations that can be trusted fully.
If you are interested in volenteering your time here personaly...then I can help you with that also...or just come to Panama city and I am sure that you will find out for yourself.
There are also many job oppertunities aswell....construction etc. Lots of stores are hiring help too.
