This message is for Story Mentorship group от @michelle.gent. The task looked like this:
Introduce us to a new character - one outside of your comfort zone - a magical, mystical, mythical being if you're used to writing 'real life' characters, or the opposite if you like writing about magic, mystery and myth.
My answer was a little different than in the assignment.
Jason
Jason continued to run away from the creature in a black robe. He did not understand where he was and how he ended up here. His strength was at the limit, but he knew that one should not stop. Jason was a "guest" in this mystical world. The only thing he wanted at that moment was to go back, go home.
Around in the dark fog, people bent their heads. There were thousands of people. They walked toward the light. Many of them were terribly mutilated. Some were deprived of limbs and could hardly move. Cries and moans were heard all around.
- What the hell is this place! - Said Jason
Despite the fact that Jason was always a brave guy, but at that moment, he was in great fear. At this point, his feelings were muffled. They seemed unnatural and unreal. There was darkness and fog all around and only a small light in the distance gave hope.
After a minute, the fear disappeared. Jason's body was enveloped in a pleasant, enveloping feeling. He stopped and felt that, from what he so rapidly ran away now does not pose a threat to him. This strange creature in a black robe caught up with him. Now "it" did not seem so eerie and frightening. Jason could see it now.
This creature was very tall and thin. The face was not visible. In his hands he held a long object very reminiscent of a scythe. He did not look friendly, and so seeing him before Jason began to run away. But now he realized that he could not escape him. Jason realized that, while running away, he only spent precious forces.
Who are you? - Jason asked in a calm voice.
I have many names, but now I am only your guide! - a deaf and silent voice answered the creature
Are you dead !? - Jason asked desperately.
And what is death? - asked the creature
This is the end of life! - answered Jason
So you can call me death. What you call people life - in fact, this is not. Do you know a person that time does not exist. It was invented by people, it is so convenient for them. What you call life for me only - a moment - said Death
And what awaits me next - with interest asked Jason
The creature in the hoodie (called death) reached out to Jason and said:
- Give me your hand and I'll show you
Jason knew that running was useless, but he did not want to leave. All his life he spent unworthily. He, like many other people, had unfinished business.
Suddenly Jason heard a voice. It sounded right in his head. It was the voice of strangers. They were very excited. At that moment, Jason's door opened behind them and the voice of these people began to flow from it. There was a choice.
- My "moment" is not over yet! - Jason said death
He ran to the open door. Death did not budge. Jason could feel her gaze on her back.
The next moment Jason woke up on the operating table. Around him were doctors. They were relieved to bring him to their senses.
Did they manage to save him?
Initially, this story was to be a description of the character. But it turned out that you read (or did not read).
In this story there is a moral. Jason ran away from death and eventually realized that it was useless. He realized that he wasted his time and energy. Does not it look like anything?
This story completely belongs to me and my imagination.

I liked the story, it's a vision of the in-between that could be true in life at the approach of death ...
thank you, I'm glad that you could see the hidden meaning
Outstanding! The grim reaper awaits us all! You just know him better than others. Well, done!
