Firstly I want to give thanks to God for the gift of life and to @michelle.gent for organizing this mentorship program for a minnow like me
This is my story as an observer
A 22 years old girl named Jane Augustine @janeaugustine, a Nigerian who hails from Enugu state, a Christian of Roman Catholic and she is currently a student of English and literary studies in one of the most prestigious University in Nigeria (University of Nigeria Nsukka)
Jane was brought up in a monogamous setting of 3 of which she is the first and only daughter of her parents. Her parents never stopped worshipping God which they see as their only source and the made impact into their children never to departed for that way.
During Jane's days in elementary school, she was very gentle and always on her own, this made all her teachers to love her and took special care of her plus she was brainy.
She was mostly loved by her class teacher Mrs Paseda who always bought her chocolate ice-cream whenever she goes out for lunch.
She never really had friends and she was not really distracted with playing because she hardly goes out to play or to have fun so failure was never part of her but she loved anything pertaining to fashion and drawings. She would use her notebook to always draw sometimes it didn't matter to her that she was giving all her attention to it. The sudden act, made her mum furious though but after a few words with her, she balanced the equation between studies and pleasure or would I rather call it talent.
When Jane entered senior high school she was among the top 5 best students in the school, due to her academic Excellency, she was given a post and her parents were proud of her but she refused the post because she wanted to be normal like the rest of all the students and not because she was running away from responsibilities.
2012 September, she got into a polytechnic to study public administration (she didn't like the course) and was intimidated by seeing students read like their lives depended on it, she could not read for a long period of time, she prefers reading at intervals, sometimes she wonders and said that all work and no play would make Jane a dull girl(though she wasn't the play play girl) After two years, she did her I.T in a big company where she was accepted warmly by everyone and she found favor in the eyes of the managing director.
She decided to go back to school, but this time she wanted to study English and literary studies in the university of Nigeria (she has always dreamt of the school). She wrote an entrance exam in other to get into the school, to her amazement she passed the merit list.
She told her managing director who is also her mentor about it and he gave her advice about school and ever since, he has always advised her and supported her in any way he could.
Jane heard about steemit in January 2018, and asked the person what Steemit was all about, the person explained and Jane became suddenly interested and she joined immediately.
The person that introduced her, taught her the little she could and she has been struggling on Steemit.
She saw a post on steemit about "mentorship on story telling" and she was interested and she is writing her application letter because she knows the importance of mentorship.
Mentorship sustained her by encouraging her to further her dream course in school.
She knows that if she is been mentored on story telling, she will do well on story telling just like her mum always told her stories about nature.
