For tens of years, Romanians have been stereotyped as being gypsies by a lot of people (Even when I was in school) Couple years back, people used to look at me very differently like I was going to steal their meal.
Differences in thinking
We as a nation, are very hardworking and will do any kind of work for a low pay mainly people here get 50 RON per day which is about 12.5 USD per day ! Which is very low pay and you will only afford to work today to live tomorrow. Our kids go to schools and get very good grades especially with this complex School system its very hard for someone to do something in school with all the lectures.
Whereas , the gypsies live very poorly who do not want to work for money and beg every day for a some RONS they also go to different countries and put their kids out there on the roads to start begging.
Around 9 years ago one gypsy started begging in front of my house, my mum told that begger go into the garden and get some potatoes , we will give you 2Ron which at that time it was quiet a lot and potatoes , when she heard that she was like "No, my back hurts, I have 5 kids at home " and shit talk like this. We then told her to "fuck off" and never come here again.
Their kids don't go to school and most of them don't even know how to write their own name or even read.
It's their parents fault, not the kids fault
Kids of the gypsies are quiet undervalued and looked at from the society like worthless pieces of a puzzle that nobody will complete. It's not their fault because they lived and raised this way its just their parents fault for not wanting them to get an education which is key to survive today.
They are being used a lot and most of their money is being given back to their parents which spend a lot off it on Alcohol and Cigarettes, I've seen this happen when I went to the mountains and the kids were there with buckets full of cranberries which are very hard to pick up as they are small. Their parents were sitting in one of them barracks smoking and having a half empty bottle of wine. We bought around 10kg of those cranberries( to make booze ) and gave the kids most of our snacks that we had in our car. I was simply heartbroken to see the way those kids lived and the way their parents were just sitting their doing nothing.
Finally, maybe now people will make the difference.(Romanian here)
We are 60.000 Members on Steemit, maybe a few of them will see the small differenc.
Completely agree with you there mate.. Couldn't have said it better myself.
Sad to see such habits being passed on from generation to generation.
I hate stereotypes, but even I agree with this...
We all hate stereotypes, Its really a thing that we still cannot stop in today's modern society.
