Calvin closed his eyes, wishing"The world needs to freeze for a moment". Everything seemed to be happening in a flash. Life wasn't playing its cards well enough. He felt cheated.
Just last week she was discharged from the hospital after almost having go spend his life savings on her. His wife had been suffering from Grade A Leukaemia. She had been one of those E.R cases. She was put on chemo to stabilize her ailment. The doctor had become fed up with the case and had to release her. It was beginning to affect other patients.
And just when he thought he had gotten a cup full of this series of bad events, he was asked to resign from work because he wasn't dedicated anymore. The 'Gambler's Ruin'was takibg its dreadful toll on him. Bad things were happening in a long blockchain.
'Hey Sir, we want to close for the day'. Calvin looked up and a small round figure was staring in his direction, trying to muscle up a customer friendly smile. He looked around the Coffee shop and realized he had been the only person left.
Standing up, he paid for his coffee and left the shop. It was 6:55 by his watch. He hisse and walked home trying to get hi mind off the issues he had which seemed to be steming from the fact that his wife was sick.
By the time he got home, he felt anger seeping into his heart and he looked at everyone with disdain. His wife came around the bend and on seeing him went closer to hug him. He didn't know how to react.
"Honey, how are you doing? How was work?" His wife asked with a smile that seemed it was
sucking all the strength from her. Staring at the supposed cause of his issues,he forced a grin and complemented with a primal nod. He quickly rushed into the house with a bitter feeling and his mind occupied.
'Hey! Calvin, please talk to me. What's wrong?'
The feel of her touch which he knew used to bring him comfort came with a sudden irritating feel. Without thinking twice, he barked at her, "what do you want from me you this lady, eh?
He could see the sudden suprise on her face. He knew she didn't deserve the treatment he was metting out, but he couldn't help it.
"But Calvin, what did i do to you? Did i offend you in any...?". She was beginning to feel bad.
"Yes,you have ruined my life",He screamed". "Because of your stupid illness,i have lost everything. Now i have lost my job. Are you happy now?" Calvin knew he was pushing things to the edge but he still went on ranting. Once he was angered, all sayings fell on deaf ears
Micah, being who she was, even with her frail voice which told even a blind man what she was in, rushed to beg her husband with all innocence of heart. Calvin, was out of control and redemption. He turned with the sharpness and accuracy of light and shoved her back. Without strength to hesitate, her body gave way, crashing her to the ground and she bruised her head against the wall.
Calvin, still in his state of fury, turned and called out to her. No motion. He called again,'Micah, get up. I'm not done with you".She lay lifeless on the floor, bleeding from her head. It dawned on him that he had done too much. It was too late already. He had just murdered his own wife.
