The young man finds a valuable necklace under a cushion, attempts to sell it, but realizes it's fake. Misunderstandings lead to his hand being cut off and being accused of theft. In the end the truth is revealed, and the governor offers marriage to the protagonist as recompense for the ordeal. But in my opinion is just a little too late as the harm was already done. Sometimes we need not to rush into decisions that are life changing and have great impact.
