At this stage of the story we can see that in a heartbreaking turn of events, Belle Madeleine, falsely accused by the deceitful marchioness, endures unspeakable suffering and separation from her daughters. This pushes her only to be redeemed by her unwavering kindness when she encounters three old poor people at the river, revealing the miraculous intervention of Saint John, Saint Peter, and the Good Lord in restoring her severed arms and reuniting the family. This proves that it is better in life to be generous, rather than keep everything for ourselves, whether material or imaterial.
