It's late at night and Marcella luckily caught the last train on her way home. When she got on the platform, the first three rows of seats were empty, and the last row only had one person sitting on it. She smiled awkwardly, quietly relieved for the company. So she went and sat opposite the other passenger. She settled down and looked up to see that the old woman sitting opposite her was staring at her intently.
She pulled a book from her knapsack and tried to read , but the odd feeling of being watched still doesn't come off. The train pulled into the next station and a man climbed in. He looked around, at her and at the other person opposite her, before finally deciding to sit next to Marcella. The train left the station and the man looked uncomfortable, until he could no longer take it. He moved closer to Marcella and whispered loud enough for her to hear.“You need to get off the next station with me. I'll explain it later”. She hesitated for a moment but her instinct tells her it wasthe right thing to do. The old woman never hid the fact that she was staring and it's already freaking her out.
The next stop came up and she left the train with this man. As soon as the door closed behind them, the man breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank God, I didn’t mean to scare you but I had to get you off that train."
Marcella stared at him, puzzled. He continued, "I’m a doctor and that woman was my patient..."
She still didn't understand, but decided to just dismiss it. She was about to thank the doctor and start finding another way to get home when the doctor spoke again.
"Poor thing, that woman. She'd been battling with cancer for 4 years."
"What? Then we should've taken her back to the hospital!" Marcella replied, suddenly regretful.
"Actually,--" the doctor stared at her. His eyes filled with sympathy and understanding.
"She died this morning."
How's everyone? It's been over a couple of months since I last visited my blog. I might as well introduce my self. My name is Mark Anthony Lagsub, 25 years old, and a father of two wonderful boys. I wanted to share this story I made today on my way home from work. See you around!
