Today I want to talk about a literary work called "Fairies at Work and Play" by the writer Geoffrey Hodson, this is a very special book because he is one of the first to speak openly about elemental beings and is also unique in the way it is written, in fact there is no other equal and in this article I will tell you what makes it so particular.

Geoffrey Hodson was a liberal Catholic priest, theologian, philosopher and mystic born in 1886. Throughout his life he wrote more than fifty books and was one of the most internationally recognized English authors for his contributions in the knowledge of the world of elemental beings. What made this man unique was that he had the third vision very developed and in his books he recounted all his experiences in relation to the magical world and other parallel realities.

During his career he collaborated with many doctors and scientists to study the states of consciousness of the human mind, he was a friend and collaborator of Arthur Conan Doyle the author of Sherlock Holmes, who was one of the most interested people in England on the subject of elemental beings. They both investigated the Cottingley Fairy case, which turned out to be a series of fake photographs of two girls who claimed to have seen a group of Fairies in a stream in northern England in the 1920s.

Geoffrey Hodson's first book, "Fairies at Work and Play" was published in 1925, is very old but can still be acquired today. Its title explicitly says the word Hadas but its content is much more diverse, the author not only refers to the Fairies as the tiny beings, we know by reference or the image we make in the mind when we hear that word, but talks about all the typology of elementary beings that exist, be understood: goblins, gnomes, sylphs, the undines or the salamanders of fire.

The book is short and is read briefly but the factor that makes it unique is the format it has, are Geoffrey's own notes on his explorations of nature, we could consider it a journal or a logbook but with the particularity that what is described there has relationship with the elemental beings and the ability that the author had to see them. In each chapter there is an annotation with the date and place of the discovery, for example:

A tree gnome in the fields of Preston, September 1921.

Then he describes the exploration in detail and accompanies it with drawings made by him. The book is particular not only for its format, but for everything that is said in it, I think it is really interesting, by reading it we can learn a lot about the magical world. For being such an old book their editions are discontinued, reason that makes it very difficult to obtain, unless it is used or digital versions available on the Internet, if you can find it, I recommend it a lot, it is a light reading that will bring magic to their lives.

Hi breili, it's so amazing how there could possibly be an insect-like human species, I really would love to see one, however it might turn out interesting if illusions is hudsons main inspiration.

Interesting, it's going to be quite amazing to discover an insect-like human species, sometimes I wonderd why they are seen nowhere if they are really existing, could it be they are hiding? I hope to see one soon, perhaps Hudson's book wouldn't have been an inspiration of illusions.

It is a very interesting topic to discover things that we do not know.
