In the sanctum of Abyss

Dive 26.
Mariana Trench.
Located in the western Pacific Ocean on the east of the Marian Islands.
Spot 'The Challenger Deep' 11.035 meters below the Earth surface.
The diving was about a study by Danes, Germans, Britons and Japanese about the possible existence of life at this area.
The first dives, brought to light some unregistered species and the research were published in 'Nature Geoscience' magazine.

The pressure from the depth was huge and the divers couldn't dive more than 250 meters, so they were exploring the perimeter.
Paul, the leader of the team, was an expert and tough diver who had no sense of fear.
After they reached the desirable deepness, the team split to record the data.
Paul decides to go ten meters below from the others.
The sunlight is non-existent.

He continues his course and ignoring the dangers. In his mind there is only one great discovery. Something that will stigmatize his name.
He gets lower and the pressure makes his ears flutter.
He stops conspiring the current situation, and with the slightest light of his equipment he observes something unusual.
A mysterious organism that shines in the dark. He knows that he must not touch it, but the explorer curiosity doesn't leave him.
He wears a special uniform and fell safe.
He gets it on hand.
Observe the little creature that looks very peaceful and calm.
Instead, it ejects a thread with power and speed in the suits mosque and its going through the glass.
The mask is cracked.

Paul loses his senses ...
The electic hit by the creature makes him faint, he is collapse and sink slowly at the bottom of the sea..
But someone have noticed him ..
The man must be saved.

A mythical creature, a mermaid.
She is Princess Derketo, daughter of Poseidon and Amphitrite and as always has two choises. She can leave him die and steal his soul, or marry him and be humman for the rest of her life.
Derketo had never seen a humman from this distanse at her kingdom.
Goes near by him.
The veins of blood at his face are looking real bad, but the poison that runs in to his body, will not be there in a few seconds and he will wake up soon.
For an inexplicable reason, she just want to save him.
Her heart beats fast.
She has seen him before. She dosent know where, but certainly his face look familiar.
She leaved so many years, traveled at all the oceans. Maybe in another life...
Orders the other mermaids to raise him up to the his companion.

He salvation is done by the mermaids but Paul will never learn that Derketo saved him.
For the rest of his life she will be watching from far all his dives and as the ships who carries him traveling,
she will swim by their side....
