My neighbour's house CAUGHT ON FIRE!

in #story7 years ago

Hello all, so today I'm going to be telling you the story of when my next door neighbor's house actually caught on fire. This was quite a few years ago now, when I was living in my previous house.

I believe I was with my mum and my younger sister at the time, and we'd just come back from town. As we pulled into the driveway we noticed a fair bit of smoke coming out from the back of the house next to ours. We thought that the neighbors were probably having a bonfire or burning something, but we went to knock on their door just to make sure. I mean, better safe than sorry right?

Thank God we did this, as of-course the neighbors weren't having a bonfire. The woman, who was home at the time, immediately rushed to the back of the house only to find a small fire that was growing rapidly in her kitchen. I am very surprised that she didn't notice this or that her fire alarms didn't pick up the fire.

Remaining calm, we called the fire brigade and waited outside on the street for them to arrive. Meanwhile, my mum noticed that the flames were growing bigger and that the wind was blowing them in the direction of OUR house. Thinking that the fire might spread onto our house, she quickly ran into the back garden and got out the hose, attempting to put out some of the fire herself. She got some help from a passerby who was out on a run and luckily they managed to get the majority of the flames out by the time the fire service arrived.

Thankfully no-one got injured and there wasn't too much damage to be paid for thanks to my mum's quick thinking. The fire was started by a lamp that had been left on and had therefore overheated in the kitchen. The whole situation was a little scary at the time, but a funny story to tell.

I hope you enjoyed it and if you did, please upvote, comment and follow. Maybe even resteem if you want to? What do you have to lose? I hope you all have a lovely day where ever you are in the world!

Oh My God !!!... This could become a terrible incident... But i still believe in humanity and you took the initiative and went out for help...

God Bless You My Friend !!!

Thank you, yes it could have been a lot worse, but thankfully no-one got hurt. :)

Yeap! Thats why i said our society needs more people like you... :) Consider yourself as a HERO

You really have a lot of interesting stories to tell Charlie xD

I know, my life is crazy!

you can say that again!!

Thank God it was not worse!! Quick thinking on your mum's part!! I was in a house fire once when I was a teenager. Luckily no one was hurt but there was a lot of smoke and water damage.

Oh gosh, that's very scary. The main thing is that no-one got hurt as money can't replace a human life :)

If you get too many upvotes Steemians will start setting fires in their neighborhoods. That would be a bad publicity for Steemit.
