We live in a brand new world, the world full of possibilities and at the same time full of challenges.
I have no idea why but the majority of people still have an illusion that working on a job is a good idea. I mean, it is stable, it provides you with necessary material possessions, it allows you to have a sense of fulfillment and it gives you some pride, right?
I don’t know, maybe you’re the lucky one and all of those items can be applied to you. But if you face the reality, you can see that 80% of the people go to the job they hate, they rather go and grab some beer instead of working. They rather sleep or do nothing instead of spending their time in this cubical; it’s a fact.
Don’t you think it’s crazy? In fact, I believe if you don’t like what you do, you are committing a spiritual suicide, literally.
Besides, who told you that a traditional job is stable right now?
I’m sure you’ve noticed that so many positions have been eliminated because of technologies. This is not a joke, this is the truth. Hundreds of companies are downsizing because of this issue, and we need to do something about it.
I hope you got an idea that so many things are different at this moment. It is a digital era that requires a particular mindset.
First of all, we need to understand and get used to a new normal.
I mean there are lots of new ways of making money today that haven’t been available even 10 years ago.
For instance:
Creating video trainings.
There are lots of amazing platforms like NewKajabi, Udemy and lots of more. We all have some experience in a particular area which we can package and share with others. Just because we live in informational age, we can get paid for our knowledge. Pretty awesome I suppose.
Write a blog or create a youtube show.
Thanks for the Wordpress we can create a blog in a matter of minutes. It became really easy to set up and start to tell the world about your passions. Obviously that’s not an easy task to get paid with your blog but by simply providing people with a genuine and deep value you can develop a trust. When you have that, you can now offer your own products or become an affiliate marketer and suggest similar products to your niche.
If you don’t like selling stuff or coming up with your own product, you can simply create a blog on Steemit and get paid for your contribution into the system in cryptocurrency. This is one of the most fascinating and mind-boggling tool that was invented so far for all of the content producers.
Join a network marketing company.
Network marketing has mixed emotions but it still remains one of the most amazing way to earn big money today. Basically you’re having your own business without dealing with backend. All you need to do is to show people an alternative to live a great quality of life and to be a part of $200 billion industry. That’s it. You’re not forcing them to join, you’re just giving them hope.
For those who are still skeptical in this industry, I highly recommend you to read a book “The Business of the 21st Century” by Robert Kiyosaki. He explains the whole idea and concept around network marketing.
Shooting commercials with a drone.
Did you know that you can make money by recording commercials for a restaurant or a popular tourist spot?
It is weird but people are willing to pay decent money for creating a 1 minute ad. In such way they don’t need to hire an entire team, they can just use your assistance and pay you generously.
There are hundreds of such examples, I just wanted to show that things have changed, and we have to adjust accordingly before it is too late. We can be like everybody else and go to work praying that we will stay for at least a few month, or we can finally accept that we have to move on.
I fear few jobs will be left as AI and automation marches forwards.
Absolutely agreed. Lots of people out there think it is so great that they've managed to create AI but I think otherwise.
Yes we might eventually need something like Universal Income even though it sounds crazy.
True words. my friend. Although I might consider myself lucky to have a job / work that I like.
But I always have a plan B and this includes some of the options that you've mentioned above.
Thanks. Yeah, sometimes plan B is always a good thing to have :)
I wish with all my heart that this mindset could be taught to kids at school. I plan to go around local schools when I have some self "proof" and "success" to show there is another way.
If it was possible, I would do that with you. Just because of such primitive thinking we have lots of unfulfilled people in the world that think too small and are afraid to try something new. I don't like that.
For instance, in Ukraine the majority of people are terrified of change and they want to be safe, they are afraid of taking some risks and do things differently. They don't trust people anymore thus being in network marketing industry here is so challenging.
