Chapter 1
My name is Zener, and I am part of the king’s elite archers in the kingdom of Ediam,. Well, not exactly, but I was one of the trainees wanting to join. I am part of the reserved trainees. I joined under the mandatory Law of Renze. The Law of Renze or sometimes called Sir Renze’s law, was made when the Earl of Wavi, Sir Renze, pleaded to the king to Impose a law to have the men of Ediam have mandatory training on the art of archery or the art of the sword depending on the citizen’s choice. As you may know, I joined to train in archery. Well, first is because I love archery. And second, it is also because the team’s leader is one of the fairest maiden in the kingdom or, if I may, even be the fairest of them all. The King imposed the law and named it after the Earl who suggested it. I sometimes joked around saying that I made the Law of Renze, and said that it was just my name scrambled. The law was made because of the past Salmia War, where Ediam suffered great losses because of the lack of men at arms. So the law was for preparation of any more wars. And sadly, what we prepared for happened.
The training was going well until 2 months ago, when The Incident happened. But anyway, as of now, I am going into the King’s castle because I was called there, by the King himself, through his assistant, who called a soldier, who then ordered a slave to tell me about the summons. It’s cool right? Yes it is. Maybe the king sent for me to do some special missions that even his greatest knights cannot do. Or, maybe he is going to ask me to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage, princess Clea. Princess Clea is one of the most beautiful girl in Ediam, daughter of King Sacroll and Queen Zeill. She is the only daughter in the royal family, she has straight blonde hair which flowed until her back, fair skin, and an astonishing beauty to top it all. But suddenly, my daydreaming was stopped when I saw the awesome structure standing before me, the king’s palace itself. It was not as mighty as it was a few years ago, but it is mighty still. With its towering walls which are elegantly designed with murals of the royal family. And the giant gates, the neck breaking towers, and most of all, the giant statue of the king at the front of the palace’s gates, where the King stood mightily holding his sword up in the air with one hand and holding his shield bearing the emblem of Ediam in the other. But now, all that’s left are broken walls, damaged towers, and the king’s statue cut from the waist up. It was the affect of the war raging between the great Kingdoms of Ediam and Aluma. It brought chaos and destruction to the nation of Ragarum, our nation. It forced the majority of the citizens on the nation to live a life of misery and chaos. The people became thin and weak. Resources became scarce and were fought after by the people at any given chance. The once close friends have now become enemies.
All this happened a month ago, weeks after the incident, when King Valorio of Aluma, an old and weary king, waged war against the kingdom of Ediam. People say that he was angry from the death of his daughter, princess Navia. It is sad, but she died on the hands of Ediam guards, our hands.
It all began one day, when the princess returned from a stroll in the forest. She was silent when she returned, rarely uttering a word. She had with her a look void of emotion.
That same night, a scream was heard from the princess’ room. Two guards then rushed to check her but when they arrived, the room was empty. They searched around, but there was not a single sign of her. The room fell silent. They looked at each other for answers, both of them knowing no one has one. A gust of wind then rattled the open windows, giving life to the still curtains which shook the guards for the realization. The two guards rushed to the King’s room and reported the incident. The king woke up and was unable to believe the reason he was woken up, “My Daughter was kidnapped!?” shouted the king, “search the whole palace! Check everything! Leave no stones unturned! You must find my daughter” Ordered the King.
