Today I'm going to be posting a short story I did Fourteen days ago. It's a very deep story that narrates slavery from a victim's perspective. I do hope you like it.
in the twinkle of an eye
The blast from the village center could only be described as what the white people call the Big Bang itself. The screams and wails of fleeing women and children soon followed., there seems to have been an explosion of some sort that was strong enough to rip out the city gate from its hinges. As I stood wondering what could be powerful enough to have caused such an explosion, I quickly remembered what Papa once told me about a device called a bomb and how they had once been given it to lead a raid on the zamaka tribe "it tore down their walls faster than any stone cutter in the twelve tribes." papa would say proudly. I was standing before this mighty gate of ours that was once a proud symbol of our strength totally lost in thought. To my right was our powerful chief with a team of the best swordsmen in our city and to my left was my mother calling out to me. Before I could snap out of my "self-induced trance", I heard another bang but this time certainly not as loud as the one that took the city gate down and the next thing I knew mama was on the floor lifeless. A series of other bangs followed and the chief and his fighters went down like elephants with spears to their brains.
In a deep burst of sorrow I ran towards my mother who was now void of any life, crying and shaking her seriously as if it would suddenly bring her back to life. Then suddenly a shadow eclipsed the brutal African sun that shone ruthlessly..., depositing it's heat on my back. This shadow, to no surprise happened to be that of one of the attacking warriors. The sigh on his chest was that of the Sabaktu tribe no mistake. They are the most hated of the twelve tribes and this is as a result of their dealings with the white people. they're known for raiding other tribes to provide slaves for these infamous white men. In a flare of instinct I turned to run away from him but was too late., he caught me like a fish in a net and quickly threw me to the floor. Obviously I was no physical match for him so I struggled helplessly as he carried me away from my home. So this is how my home was lost all in the twinkle of an eye.
