Whilst investigating the death of a local shopkeeper, an adorable cleaner called Garth Thornhill uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, silver gun circulating throughout Africa. As soon as anyone uses the gun, he or she has exactly 203 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look zombified. A marked person feels like a passionate goldfish to touch.
Garth gets hold of the gun, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: an evil pigeon balancing on a frosty shopkeeper, an old newspaper headline about a motor accident, a hooded monkey ranting about eyes and a drinking well located in a crowded place.
When Garth notices his fingers have goldfish-like properties, he realises that the curse of the silver gun is true and calls in his lover, a author called Alex Sparrow, to help.
Alex examines the gun and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the evil pigeon balancing on a frosty shopkeeper particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death.
Garth and Alex pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded monkey. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
