EDIT (6/15/20): I'm sad to report, Zamir has cancelled the interview based on advice from his agent. He said he might be able to do it towards the end of the year so hopefully it will still happen. 2020 is continuing its track record of being a very unpredictable and disappointing year.
The universe has such a mysterious way of working sometimes. Some of you may have read my post from a few days ago in remembrance of the second anniversary of Anthony Bourdain’s passing, A Letter To Tony.
I posted links to that tribute to some of my other social media accounts and a few Anthony Bourdain fan pages. Something quite unexpected happened. I connected with none other than Tony’s good friend Zamir Gotta.
Tony always referred to Zamir as an "international man of mystery” but, in reality, he’s a Russian broadcaster, producer, and entrepreneur. He launched his own brand of vodka Zamir also appeared in a multitude of Tony’s shows throughout the years. There was always such a great camaraderie between the two. I can't even begin to fathom how much fun they had. I hope to hear about some of those experiences first-hand on Monday.

Awe no Eric, this year really is full of disappointments but you never know what waits around the corner; let's hope things start turning around for this sad old world of ours!
We had the sudden surprise of our son being able to return after thinking nothing would happen in June, plus our bookings have started up again so things are slowly changing back to some sort of normality!

I really hope we see a reversal of fortune for 2020. I feel like the energy is beginning to shift a little. I was so happy to see your son made it back home. I can hardly believe how it all transpired! Zamir and I have been messaging for the last few days and it's been surreal. He's a genuinely nice guy who thinks the world of Tony. Ironically I'm publishing the piece on my own birthday, June 18th. The opportunity to do this is the best birthday present I could think of.
