SteemFest
Many of you are on your way to Krakow or are already there and valiantly battling jet lag. Seeing all of your posts about your travels to Poland, I can't help but remember the excitement and nervousness I felt as I boarded the plane to SteemFest 1 in Amsterdam. It was my first trip to Europe and it was also my first time presenting at a conference of any kind. I can't normally sleep on planes but had just enough red wine over the Atlantic to catch a few hours of shut eye. The very first person to greet us as we walked into the hotel was @Roelandp and his energy was enough to brighten us up even in our exhausted state.
If it's your first SteemFest, mark my words, the experience will change you. For one, it'll give you much more hope in the future. You'll have special access to some of the culture of the city and this will give you an experience you'd be hard-pressed to get any other way. It'll make you feel a bit like a local and you'll discover new things you didn't know existed. I remember this distinctly from Amsterdam Roeland and crew do a fantastic job of designing it this way. My wife and I have become lifelong fans of Stroopwafels and fresh mint tea ever since our trip to Amsterdam. We also still have dreams of one day moving there (or at least spending part of the year.)
You'll also meet what will turn out to be a few lifelong friends. My advice is don't worry too much about sleep while you're there, make the most of each and every moment. Also, prepare yourself for the post-SteemFest blues. After days of having that much fun boarding the flight home will be difficult, it'll feel like you're leaving family. But don't worry too much about any of that now, live in the moment and have as much fun as you possibly can.
That first SteemFest feels like a lifetime ago already but the memories are a part of me forever. I'm sad I can't be there this year but will enjoy seeing all of the posts, pictures, and live streams from Krakow.
Poetry
Below is a compilation of some of my original poetry paired with a song called, "O Barquinho" from Stacey Kent's album The Changing Lights.
Jazz
My wife and I are lucky to know Stacey and her husband Jim and try to catch their shows whenever they're in town. We met years ago during one of their concerts at the Dakota Jazz Club here in Minneapolis. Years ago, (speaking of other lifetimes) Raymi and I owned a tea shop called, "The Perfect Pause - Fine Tea and Accessories" from 2006 to 2011 and Stacey and Jim used to buy our tea. They liked one in particular, ice wine white tea, it was a nice white tea with a hint of Canadian ice wine.
Fun Fact: They recorded their song Ice Hotel while sipping our ice wine white tea in the studio.
As we get older we begin to realize that we live more than one lifetime from birth to final breath. If we're brave and a little lucky, we live many. Each dawn can bring with it a new and different life. My life has become infinitely better as a result of this platform. Even though it's far from perfect Steemit is still changing lives, in different ways, every day.
Make the most of your journey.
Eric

Again, so sorry you won't be there as I really looked forward to meeting you. 🤗 But there is always next year! Your post really gave me a mood boost about the whole event, as I was a bit nervous 😊 thank you, Eric ❤️
I'm having huge FOMO right now after seeing all of the pictures and hearing the stories. : ) I'm glad this made you feel a little more comfortable. Enjoy SteemFest!
All those good memories :)

For sure and hopefully many more SteemFests to come! Enjoy!
Nice story on steemfest .
These are unforgetable memories.
I bet the memories are flooding back seeing posts of people at Steemfest. It's great you went to the first one. Making it a historical event being the 1st one. Time will tell how many more there will be.
Ice wine is delicious and now I know where you got the name of your book, "The Perfect Pause."
We used to go to a tea bar in Wichita, Kansas all the time called Zoomdweebie ... over 50 kinds of teas.
It was fun attending a poetry group there. I may start going to a poetry group here.
The memories are definitely flooding back! We're hoping to make it back to Amsterdam this spring. Ice wine is delicious. Our tea wholesaler was from Canada so we had special access to it and it was kind of a rare thing here in the states. Yes! That's where the name of my book came from. It was kind of nice that the name could live on after the tea business closed. What a unique name, Zoomdweebie. I really like the atmosphere of teashops, we found a really cool one in Montreal this year. I have to say that we met some of the nicest people through our business. People who are into tea are generally decent people, in our experience. It's very similar to the crypto-world.
The tea is great. we don;t have anything like a tea shop here locally all coffee.
I like coffee too but the coffee shop vibe isn't quite like the tea shop.
That and I really liked some of the teas and the way they were made more than the coffee shops items.
Remarkable memories from your steem fest .
Best wishes to those who are going to poland for attending this year steem fest.
Nice memories. I'm waiting for this steem fest captures .
Do you know where the next SteemFest will be? I would love to meet you in person. And you are right, this platform is changing lives every day... Are you also on Whaleshares and Weku?
I really hope to be able to make it next year's SteemFest! They usually don't announce the SteemFest location until a few months beforehand. You'll probably see an announcement around August of 2019 with the details for next year. I have an account on Weku but have never posted.
This is going to be fun keep sharing updates from there :) have fun !
Thank you for keeping us updated on Steemfest Euro style, bro. Love it. Have fun, keep spreading this great platform.
Hey @pittsburghhodlr! I'm not actually there this year, just recollecting on past SteemFests. Hope all is well!
Doing well here, man, just staying busy and bracing for the snow. Thanks! Hope you're well yourself!
Can you tell me what is this steemfest?I don't have any idea about this steemfest.I also like jazz though i dont know a lot about jazz but i like the music.I hope you are enjoying your time there.
It's a yearly conference for steemians to meet up, give talks/learn from other presenters. I suggest you search tags for steemfest and these posts will give you an idea of what it is as well as the opportunity to watch the livestreem of the presenters.
Thanks! SteemFest is Steemit's annual conference - https://steemfest.com/
I really enjoyed this post! I just followed Stacy Kent on Spotify and their music is perfect for some work tasks as well as for evening enjoyment, I'm pretty sure it will become a staple in my life. Nice accompaniment for your poetry as well.
Also, it seems neither of us are going to Steemfest and I like your encouragement and recommendations for those who are! Part of me wishes I was going but it also feels right to be working on the nitty gritty day-to-day to get the wheels of my new life turning.
By the way, please let me know if you have time and would like to get together when you come to NYC , it's an easy trip for me into the city now and it would be really wonderful to spend time with you and Raymi in whatever capacity is possible.
Thank you, Ruth! She's incredible, isn't she? Her husband Jim Tomlinson is just as talented in his own right. Her French album, Raconte-moi is one of my favorites. Her music has a great knack for setting certain mood.
I feel the same way this year. The "nitty gritty" seem more pressing this year. We have a lot of exciting things in the work with HardFork that we're trying to finalize.
We would love to get together the next time we're in NYC! I didn't reach out this last trip because we only flew in for a few days but the next time I'll be sure to reach out. It'd be fun to meet up with Kirk and Michael too.
Yes and yes! Really look forward to seeing what's afoot with Hardfork.
Great post ..every words of story express many thoughts ,very sweet story..
