This episode focuses on Brendan Dassey's case. He actually takes the stand at his hearing. We're compassionate and nice goes a long way. If you're not that smart you may have a particular skill to contribute to society, and if you're nice no one should mess with you as long as you are trying at life. So we are not being cruel-hearted when we say Brendan is an idiot by definition. The reason we point this out is nothing important should really depend on what comes out of his mouth. Especially when it comes to life and death. Add to the mix coercive and suggestive interrogation tactics by unethical agenda driven cops and you just throw your hands up in the air in disbelief. What this series shows him saying on the stand is perhaps the most lucid we've seen him. Not every post has to be a long one, we're not going to force it when we are basically speechless here. It's hard to write under these circumstances.
So not only is he dull, but he mixes different things up in his mind. On the stand it turns out he was reading Kiss the Girls during the time he was being interrogated. This is apparently a graphic novel by James Peterson. Some parts of the questioning seem like a continuation of the interrogations themselves. Sometimes in the same vein but other times more the way interviews are supposed to be done by objective people.
Defense counsel pointed out to Wiegert that during the interrogation shown to the jury Fassbender and Wiegert(F&B) insinuated or directly stated Brendan was lying seventy five times. Many things were suggested first by F&B before mentioned by Brendan (shot to the head).
At one point we were grossed out seeing Colborn escorting Brendan to and from trial. And sitting right behind him during the reading of the verdict. Just gross.
Brendan was found guilty.
Incredibly cool.
