Kathleen receives 9 pieces of evidence on order of the court to continue her research.
Back to the magically appearing key that had Steven's "touch" DNA on it. The amount found by the State lab dwarfed what could be recreated by having Steven hold onto another key for twelve minutes and then testing it. The State lab found 10 times the level of the recreated experiment, showing the source was probably not touch DNA. Kathleen finds some hanky panky regarding groin swabs that nurses took but then did not enter into evidence, then connects Wiegert to those groin swabs. Everything is lining up. Even the lack of oil stains on the evidence. In other words, if you swab the hood latch of a used car, sure there might be small but not large amounts of DNA, but there would also be dirt, grime, oil etc. The evidence swab of the hood latch has no dirt on it! Only 10 times the amount of touch DNA. It is obvious a groin swab was put in an envelope and labeled hood latch. The only thing filthy here, once again, is Manitowoc.
Teresa's roommate Scott Bloedorn refuses to speak with Kathleen's investigator. The main thing with him is the disconnect between him saying she was always home at night but he not notifying anyone when she didn't come home for several nights.
Back to Brendan's hearing, judges Williams, Rovner and Hamilton compose the panel. Williams and Rovner start tearing apart the interrogations and their obvious flaws, how "shot to the head" coming from the interrogators before Brendan makes them tainted. They cover how special care was not given considering his young age, the frustration officers expressed when answers don't go their way, and how suggestive the whole process was. Hamilton is a little slow on the take so Nirider provides 4 answers to prove fact-feeding on the part of Fassbender and Wiegert(F&W). The fact feeding also moves the "shooting" from the fire pit to the garage.
As the counsels for both parties exit the building, after the hearing, guess who is giving a press conference in the lobby? Ken Kratz, former Calumet County DA. He also has a book coming out at that same time. You thought the amazeballs were done?
Three days later F&W are on Dateline. So is Kratz, and his book. He calls Steven a psychopath.
Hood latches a are dirty things.
