"THE ORIGIN OF THE MATCHES"

in #story7 years ago

Hi friends all .. hopefully healthy always. after making a post about "IF HAZARDOUS, WHY SMOKING", I remembered a match to burn a cigarette. So, on this occasion, I will tell you, the origin of a match.

from the size of lights petromak, lighter can now grip and fill bag smokers.

The attempt to "make" fire by humans has lasted a long time. Matchers with small pine-sized pine wood pieces are estimated to have been in Chinese society since the year 577. He produced fire for cooking, lighting oil lamps, and others. Later appeared the lighter, which is so familiar or identical with the smoker. The Indonesians call it gas lighters.

The lighter was introduced by German chemist Johan Wolfgang Doberiner in 1816 called "Doberiner's Lamp". This lighter does not use butane or oil as fuel but rather hydrogen. In addition, he used platinum as a catalyst (used to initiate chemical changes from fuel to fire). Due to the use of platinum, this lighter is expensive. Only smokers from the upper classes are able to have it.

In 1903 a special platinum substitute as a catalyst was discovered by Austrian scientist Carl Auer von Welsbac. This flint consists of a pyrophoric alloy, 70% cerium, and 30% iron. When scratched or beaten, he will issue a spark. Armed with the invention of Welsbach, a metal craftsman named Louis Ronson created a lighter. In 1910, Ronson patented his lighter labeled Pist-O-Liter. Three years later, his company, Ronson Lighter Company, produces modern hand-sized lighters. The fuel changes from hydrogen to naphtha. Because using a flint, the price is relatively cheap. Ronson's first lighter was labeled "Wonderlitte".

In the 1920s, in the midst of the Art-Deco period, smoking became part of the lifestyle of European society. Although at that time the price of lighters was not as expensive as before, lighters are still a luxury for some people, especially the workers who are mostly smokers. But the condition is then changed thanks to George G. Blaisdell, entrepreneurs from Bradford, Pennsylvania, United States.

Entering 1940, the lighter fuel began to shift from naphtha to butane. The smell of butane is not as sharp as naphtha. In addition, the compressed butane can be adjusted to the intensity of the "power" of the fire.

Currently lighter comes with various types of fire produced. There is a fire type torch, there is also a burst of fire from a jet engine. In addition, because the price is cheap, we can find a lighter worth Rp 1,000. If you want to impress wah, you can choose Zippo-style lighter that is expensive. What is clear, lighter increasingly familiar and stored in the pockets of smokers.

okay my friends ,, maybe that's just the short history of the origin of the matches. so long ago the story.
