Doug flew to the Twin Cities the week of Christmas and he and Eric spent a few days heavily entrenched in the fundraising campaign. They also managed to squeeze in some broader HardFork Series brainstorming and a little fun during the visit. During these last few days of the campaign they conducted a YouTube live Q&A session, a video interview with Craig Mason of Dash, and stayed connected online with more community members until the wee hours.
Despite our best efforts, our “yes” votes still weren’t approaching anywhere close to where we needed them to be. We all but resigned to the fact that we’d have to re-submit our proposal for January and run another month-long campaign. This meant spending five more Dash and delaying the start of our project for another month.
On the morning of Saturday, December 30th our luck began to change. We started to see a small trickle of “yes” votes beginning to roll in a few hours before voting closed. As the minutes ticked away more votes began to register, and in ever-increasing amounts. The gap between yeses and nos were still sizable but were growing more narrow.
That last morning Doug and Eric were logged into the cryptocurrency team’s Discord channel attempting a final push to answer any last minute questions and convincing as many people to vote yes (or flip their no vote to a yes) as they could.
Naomi Brockwell was also making important connections that greatly influenced the success of our campaign. She interviewed Jason King, a HardFork advisor, resulting in a promotional video that we used for the campaign, and worked hard to rally last minute masternode votes over email in the eleventh hour.
Finally, in the last fifteen minutes of open masternode voting HardFork crossed the magical threshold to being approved! All of our hard work paid off. There is nothing quite as sweet (or as nerve-wracking) as a photo finish!
Steemians...we did it! We are extremely excited and grateful to announce that HardFork has received the Dash funding!!
Although we still have a considerable amount of additional money to raise to reach our ultimate goal, we now have enough to get our project off the ground. Over the next few months we will be approaching other sponsors and investors as well as ramping up HardFork into full production.
