This is a story about me hanging out with a rich guy

I used to work as a Linux Administrator on a big Company been there allow me to met a lot of interesting people and make some frienships that started as a customer/cliente relationship. I worked there for 7 years and become really tired and bored of doing the same thing day after day, so I did what every man do at this point I quitted.

I knew I had enough money to sustain myself while looking for another job but I'm kind of cheap and meanwhile I called every person I knew on that company, customer or client, to offer my services as a Linux Administrator so I could make some money on the waiting process, and it work.

I talked to a secretary of one of those companies and she told me the President and General Manager of that place wanted to talk with me so she gave me an appointment for the next day, I had to ride for about two hours before reaching the place but I finally did. What I found there? I found a 25 years old boy who was the owner of this amazing factory (I was 27 at the time) giving instructions to everyone and acting as President and General Manager of that place at that short age.

We went to his office and he told me that his father pass away a few months ago so he inherited the company and was now in charge of everything so he wanted to give a more technological view to the company but he knew very little about computers.
I have to admit from the point of view of a Linux Administrator the place was a mess they use Hotmail as mail server, there was no File server, no DHCP, no Administrative system, they lack security policies, they has no ERP so they use excel for everything. They were very efective to produce but amazingly desorganized as every family enterprise.

I knew I was going to spend a lot of time there giving this company a methodology of work but I had to start from scratch, we made a plan of work and a few days after that visit I found myself traveling two hours everyday to reach that place. As a result of being there 12 hours a day working as a consultant and organizer I made a friendship with this 25 years old millionaire we started to hang out outside the company and there is where this story really begins.

I found myself going to places I have never been before or even knew existed, there was one time when we went for a hair cut to this fancy hairdressing and as soon as I got into I asked "How much does a hair cut costs?" He laugh and told me: "I think you are the only person who has come to this place asking how much does a hair cut costs" don't worry I pay.

There was another time when we hang out with some girls, he took us to a very private Disco/Bar I found out there was no prices published anywhere on that place so I freak out and ask the bartender "Where can I see the prices list?" The guy pretend he did not listen and I pretend I did not ask, once more and as always my new friend pay for everything.

One time we went to his house (Should I say mansion?) and none of the working personal attend to worked due to a national labor protest so he has to live a new experience: going to the supermarket to buy food and cook it. We went to this really fancy supermarket near his home it was so diferent from those I used to frecuent.

When he was going to pay I said to him "Food here is like 60% more expensive and he told me "You know I have learn a lesson haging out with you, I realize I born being rich and I don't know what expensive means I had always have the money to pay I don't ask I just pay"

That sentence makes me realized the truth (There is no spoon) there is not such a thing as an expensive product If you born rich and have not idea about the value of regular things nothing would seems expensive or even the expensive concept won't be part of your regular thoughts.

So next time you think something is expensive remember, there is not such a thing as expensive you just don't have enough money

Sort:

Very true.

And people also forget that there is a LOT of money in existence, in the forms of all sorts of different currencies.

Collecting lots of it isn't difficult, as long as you know how.

Just reach the mass market. If you can sell an item that costs $2 to make for $5 to one million people, you just made three million dollars.

Now you can stop looking for what's cheap, and go for what's good.

I agree but I also think we can use new technologies to end poverty around the world I wrote and article about how to use the blockchain to make it happend I let you the link https://steemit.com/blockchain/@interpreter/a-fair-world

Look into the Viva project.

They're building very interesting technology designed for exactly this.

vivacoin.life is one way to them.

This is what I love about steemit you get in contact with smart caring people in a few seconds I'm looking at the link right now

I think everyone should do a few "basic" things like going to supermarkets, getting basic haircuts or doing their own. As you then appreciated the value of certain things and don't just take it for granted.

He born rich and he'll die rich we are still friends and on his defense I must say that expensive haircut was the best one I have had on my whole life hahahaha

Fair enough.
