Day of reckoning

I wonder why young boys go into the act of stealing and robbery. Agile and energetic to work but instead they prefer short cut to success. This story cuts across an account of a boy and the day he found his demise.

Kunle a boy of sixteen lives in the rural part of Agege Lagos state. He had made a number of friends since that was were he spent most of his life but he didn't choose his friends wisely.
He moved mainly with hoodlums who promoted him to smoke, drink and take drugs.

Since computer village in Ikeja was not far from his abode, he goes there with a couple of friends to hustle for livelihood since he was expelled from school for stubbornness, disobedience to school authorities and for promoting violence.

Hustle in an hoodlums language means to commit illegal crime to earn money.

Kunle was good at what he does so there was this confidence that engulf him and made him not afraid of anyone.
He and friends snatch people's phones, laptops and go to sell them at cheaper rates and they are made for the day.
As he grew in the business, he no longer goes to the street to snatch phones because that could get him caught since computer village we getting more secured.

Let me briefly state some of the strategies he used in his theft act.

  • He cuts paper into shapes of money, he then places two currency note in front and at the back and places the paper at the center to make it look like the money is plenty then the real deal is he uses a phone(very expensive phone) to attract people he wants to contact.
He would stand at a corner and tell you to come and buy and when you come, he tells you a cheap price that gets you attracted for instance a phone worth #40,000 he wants to sell for #9,000.
I believe a lot of people would say they know he is wanting to scam them so they are prepared but he is quite smarter so he uses that.
This can actually go in two ways:
Either he tells you to come to an isolated corner because he does not want the police to see you guys transacting on the road and when you go, some guys are waiting there to beat the hell out of you and collect your belongings Or
He sells the phone to you and you pay him but immediately you are about to leave, he tells you he no longer wants to sell and because you have the mind set that the phone is too cheap for the price, you are prepared to refund his phone back and this time he refunds your money rolled(not really your money but the paper money) and you collect it and immediately he runs away like someone is chasing him...

  • He hugs you like you are his long time friend and immediately removes your phone or wallet he apologizes and tells you he thought you were his friend.

He did all these successfully and was seen living his life to the fullest but faith caught up with him a days to his birthday.
He needed money to celebrate his birthday in a grand style and he went to hustle but this time he stole from a wrong person or maybe over confidence had overwhelmed him and he made a mistake.
This man noticed his tricks and as he was about to run, he started shouting Thief... Thief....Thief

Angry mobs chased him and caught up with him.. Gave him a beating of his life and before he could say anything one person suggested that he be burnt another had gone to bring tyre which was immediately placed on him and fuel was produced from no where which was poured on him.
As he tried to beg for mercy, all those around started saying we know him well he had been doing it for long now.. God catch him
That didn't stop them from setting him ablaze... Before the police arrived at the scene to save him, he was burnt beyond recognition. This happened a day to his birthday.

nice story

Terrible terrible treatment of a human being. Desperation may lead to stealing and stuff but what they did to him ? That is terrible at best.

Really terrible.... This happened for real at ajegunle area last week.... But I changed the story though... This guy was nabbed for robbery and burnt before the police could get there...

How is it humane? It was evil and barbaric even if he tried to steal something petty something invaluable, it’s madness, people who did that to him are more guilty than this person.

You are right... Jungle justice is wrong but most times those that do the killing during jungle justice are criminals like the person they are killing
