Alex awoke at his computer desk to a loud crash. He'd fallen asleep in his room waiting for his Girlfriend, Jess, to get home. He groaned quietly, tracing his fingers along his forehead before brushing his fingers through his messy, unbrushed locks of brown hair.
After sitting at his desk for a few seconds, staring at his computer screen, blissfully unaware of why he woke up so suddenly, Alex quickly remembered the crashing sound. As soon as he did remember, he got up from his chair; legs still asleep, meaning he stumbled back and sat on the edge of his desk. "Jess?" Alex called out, the apartment completely silent. Nervously, Alex pushed off of the desk and slowly approached the door to his room, the only light coming from his computer monitor behind him, which gave the room a faint, blue glow. "Jess!" He called out again, but a little louder this time. Still, no response. Hands now trembling, Alex reached out to grab the door handle and slowly pull the door open, poking his head through the crack in the door to stare down the dark hallway.
"Babe?" Alex's voice was quieter now and he sounded nervous, because he was. Again, no response. Just as Alex began to slowly open the door wider he heard something, a footstep? He wasn't sure. His body froze, now focusing on the deafening silence of his apartment. There it was again, a small thump. Then another. Alex then noticed something down the hall; movement. Someone was down the hallway, and they were walking closer. "J- Jess?" The male stuttered out. Instead of hearing the familiar sound of Jess' voice, he heard something that made him freeze in pure terror. A long, very heavy breath, almost as if it was overly exaggerated.
Just as he reached to close the door, an ear piercing screech erupted from the darkness and the small footsteps became loud stomps. Something was running towards him. Alex quickly slammed the door, falling back in horror as something collided with the door, causing a loud bang to echo through the apartment. "Wh-What the fuck?" Alex mumbled to himself, his voice trembling and filled with fear. There was another crash at the door, causing the whole door to shake. The sudden crash made Alex jump, and he fell to the floor and crawled backwards. Desperately, Alex searched his darkened room for something he could use to protect himself, quickly crawling over to his bedside table to grab a lava lamp.
Alex ripped the glass container free of the plastic stand, ready to throw it at whatever was on the other side of the door. Just as he raised his arm, clutching the lamp tightly, another scream echoed from behind the door, followed by another loud crash, this one causing the door to burst open and the thing on the other side of the door made Alex freeze in pure terror.
The creature was tall, clothes blood soaked and torn to shreds. It had a humanoid shape, but it certainly wasn't human. Not anymore. It stood on two long, boney legs. Alex couldn't see too many details due to the lack of light, but the creature's skin seemed torn and stretched. As Alex stared longer, he took in more details about the monster that stood in his doorway. Its arms were abnormally long, fingers snapped and twisted, claws long and sharp. There were also two appendages coming from its back, both of them twisting over the creature's shoulders and hanging limply. Though, as soon as the creature locked eyes on Alex, the arm like appendages perked up and the skin attached to the tip of each appendage peeled back to reveal sharp, bone like claws, both of them at least a foot long. Though what scared Alex the most was the cold, dead eyes that stared straight at him, burrowing deep into his soul as the monster stood there. Its jaw hung agape, giving a full view of a mouth full of razor sharp, blood soaked teeth.
The creature then let out another screech and sprinted as fast as humanly possible towards Alex. In a blind panic, Alex threw the lamp at the grotesque beast, the glass container hitting it square in the face, causing it to collapse in a heap with a pain filled scream. As soon as it collapsed, Alex ran. He jumped over the creature, sprinting straight for the door, running out into the hall and towards the front door. As he rounded the corner, the man froze. There, on the ground, was Jess. Her body was twitching and shaking, a pool of blood underneath her. Hesitantly, Alex stepped closer. "B- Baby? Oh God-" He fell silent when Jess' back arched up into the air, legs kicking out violently as she let out a horrifying scream and snapped her gaze towards Alex with the same cold, dead eyes. "Oh fuck that!" Alex shouted out before stumbling backwards, looking over his shoulder to see the creature from before dragging itself out of his room using the two sharp appendages that stuck out of the monster's back, the rest of its body limp and motionless. It looked up at Alex with its two black, lifeless eyes and screeched at him. Alex looked back at Jess, who flipped onto her stomach and continued to violently shake.
Suddenly, two appendages burst out of Jess' sides, blood pouring onto the floor as the bloody skin on the appendages immediately peeled back to reveal the same two boney spikes. The appendages dug into the floor, and Jess pushed herself to her feet instantly, turning towards Alex with a wide, tooth filled grin. Whatever was staring at Alex was no longer Jess, and he knew that now. "Get away!" He shouted, stumbling back and quickly looking to his right, trying to find something he could use to defend himself, though it was no use. By the time he'd spotted a weapon to defend himself with, Jess had tackled him to the floor and rammed one of the boney claws into his shoulder, making Alex scream out in agony before Jess swung her head down to bury her large, tooth filled mouth into his face, her jaw locking into his skin, the teeth tearing through his face before Jess yanked back her head, ripping a chunk of his face clean off, blood immediately spraying all over Jess' torn clothes and Alex immediately stopped struggling and went limp, now nothing more than food for what used to be his lover.
