Telling the story of a beautiful girl...
Maui is the second largest in Hawaii and also the second most visited. This island combines the comfort of the most tourist areas with the tranquility and beauty of the natural areas.
In this post I am going to show you the most beautiful natural areas of the island.
Route to Hana
It is a serpentine road of 88 km (55 miles) surrounded by vegetation that passes through bridges, waterfalls, beaches, natural pools, etc.
I recommend reserving the whole day, rent a car and enjoy the route without hurry, stopping to see some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.
Fields of sunflowers
In the central area of Maui, on the Kehlani road, near the Honoapi'lani road, we find these wonderful fields of sunflowers.
The only problem is that there is no parking. That is why people leave the car by the side of the road, so it is not possible to stay for a long time.
Anyway, it's worth stopping to see this wonder.
Haleakala crater
Haleakala is the largest inactive volcano in the world. It is located on the highest peak in Maui, more than 10,000 meters above sea level.
Haleakala means "house of the sun", and although you can go at any time of the day, the best views are during sunrise and sunset.
Just keep in mind that if you want to go by car to see the sunrise (before 7 in the morning), you must book in advance on the website of the Haleakala National Park.
Makena State Park
Located in the southern part of Wailea, the park includes two beaches, "La playa grande" and "La playa pequeña", both separated by an inactive volcanic cone of red earth.
The large beach measures approximately one kilometer of sand, so it is an ideal place to go for a walk, but from my point of view it is not the best place to swim, as the waves are often very large.
The small beach, although not officially recognized, is considered a nudist beach.
The bay of Honolua
This is my favorite place!
To get to Honolua you have to pass through a forest that is totally magical.
The bay is an ideal place to snorkel.
And the view that I like most is seen from above the cliff: to one side is the bay and to the other the open sea where you always have surfers enjoying the waves.
Nakalele geyser
On the northeast coast of Maui, we find this natural geyser, where the ocean water comes to the surface at high pressure.
Right next to the Geyser we can see this rock with a nice hole in the shape of a heart.
Lavender fields
Lavender compose are found near the Halekeala National Park. The land belongs to a private farm, so you have to pay entrance (I think about $ 5).
I went in December and the truth is that there were not many flowers, but anyway the walk was nice.
