Hello dear Steemians!
Today marks the second part of our little road trip adventures. Unlike yesterday troubles with fog and rain, today weather in Croatia was stunning as if it was first day of spring.
My girlfriend joined me and my little racer Renault today and we decided to hit the beach, particulary coast of Omiš.
I got the impression that lot of folks from Europe are familiar with Omiš area since it's their usual location during summer break.
And why it shouldn't be?
It combines peaceful atmosphere that you can't find in your usual go-to tourist locations and it's right between Split and Makarska.
So lets begin with education time!
The town of Omis is settled in centre of southern Croatian region of Dalmatia. It is right at the place where the river Cetina enters Adriatic Sea, just over twenty kilometres from country’s second biggest city of Split.
Just above the roofs of the old town, as permanent reminder of the glorious pirate history, stands one of the most famous Omiš landmarks – the fortress of Mirabela.
The old pirates of Omiš used Mirabela as a lookout over the Channel of Brač, so that rich merchant ships had no way of sailing along the coast of Omiš unnoticed.
The fortress itself was built in the 13th century, and, interestingly enough, its age was in fact determined based on an old Byzantine coin that some visionary pirate had obviously thrown into its foundations, making it much easier for future generations to determine the age of this important fortress and a long-standing witness of numerous wars and battles throughout the history in which it undoubtedly played a crucial role.
The picturesque beaches of Omis and Omis Riviera are in the majority small pebbles, there is sandy and rocky beach parts.
The beaches of Omis Riviera stretch from resort settlement Podstrana to the Makarska Riviera. The beaches of Omis and Riviera are the beaches of Omis city itself, and of the resort settlements — Duce, Nemira, Stanici, Celina, Ruskamen, Lokva Rogoznica, Mimice, Medici, Marusici, Pisak.
The main beach is sand beach in the center of town. Sundown was so stunning we just couldn't waste a chance not to sit and enjoy the view.
Just to prove you guys how crazy warm and beautiful Omiš is in the winter days just look at the picture below!
We hit the road just after sundown cause it was starting to feel like typical January day and came home safely.
I hope that you enjoyed 5 minutes of sun even on the internet. If you have any location wise suggestions feel free to drop it in comment section.
