Story Time - Never Say Never

in #story7 years ago

Few days ago, when I was decluttering my parent's bedroom, I came across two small jewelry boxes.
I took a look inside and there was a few pieces of jewelry from my parents, my brothers and even mine. Then I saw a ring.
I picked it up and in that moment I got this flashback of me looking at this ring as a teenager and thinking "I would never wear this!"

And now, when I saw it again, after so many years, I thought: "Wow, what a beautiful ring!"
The ring belongs to my mom. I put it on, went to her and said: "Look what I found!"
She told me the story behind the ring. Long, long time ago, my dad got 13th salary and my mom wanted a ring for a while so he got it for her. But she didn't end up wearing it mostly because she did a lot of house work every day. So it ended up sitting in jewelry boxes for years.

She told me I can keep it if I want to. Of course, I said yes! :) The ring itself is beautiful to me. It is simple gold with a small red stone in the middle. Red is my favorite color. I'm looking at it as I'm writing this.

All of this made me think how many times, especially when I was younger, I said "I would never..."

and the answer is - too many! Looking back at it now, I feel like at that point of my life I thought I was all grown up, I thought that my opinions and personality was fully formed but the truth is I was quick to judge. I had no idea how much there is to experience, learn, see and hear and how much I would change as a person. And I'm still not done yet, because this is a journey, not a destination.

Never say never!
