Ikumagba his friend came to play his last respect to him and he said, I knew he wouldn't last till the next yam festival. He thought he would be able to cheat tradition, the strange calabash has taken its victim at last,'he said with tears in his eyes.
Abaga's body was later taken to his home town for burial. Friends and relations wept. Those who heard that he confessed that he saw the calabash blamed him. It was the general opinion that he did not respect the tradition of the people with whom he lived and made a living for himself and his household.
The untold pain his curiosity put his family members into was just too great, because he had taken all the money he had on him for the journey that he went on, so there was nothing else that the wive and kids could fall back on, there was no food or provision at all for them to consume at home.
Their mindset was that after he returns from the journey, sales made will help revive the financial status of the family again and the money and the breadwinner of the house were both gone.
Abaga's wife was now even more embarrassed because her husband's case will be used to warn people never to look at the calabash again.
