To create an interesting story you would have the different characters convey different points and perspectives within different conflict situations to develop the understanding of the reader. You could say the guy is on his own and only interacts with others through the broader societal context, but I find it a pretty good approach to ask questions on the level of family since it facilitates a lot of narration. You could go for the route where we have the "red pilled" father contrasting the "blue-pilled" son which has a lot of good conflict baked into it. Maybe the father sees through the lies his son has been told while the son sees through the self-deception and arrogance of his father. It could also be the other way round where the young boy has to put through his perception of the world against an older generation which starts off entirely detached from his life reality while they see him personally struggeling instead of going through what they would call normal development. All the other characters could of course facilitate all of these perspectives and conflict points. Maybe the mother tries to facilitate relative harmony or is ideologically influenced by a feminist or traditional perspective, maybe there is a sister who is obsessed with a non-typical icon or exactly a typical icon, maybe there is some family friend involved with "black pills" and all and another one with "pink pills" Maybe it's also one of the before established characeters who stumbles onto new information influencing their worldview and therefore going from one pill to the other. You could truely write a lot about all these "pill-communities", but try to really weave them into your story as meaningful characters that hold a purpose within your narrative structure so that you can say in the end "every character is needed and enriches the whole story with their presence".
It's a lot about where you want the focus of the story to be
