DULL BUT BRILLIANT AND LUCKY

Tayo had just been promoted to SS2 and was planning to write GCE in this class, he had barely made it out of summer class even though he didn't want to. He was always looked down on by his mates, everyone believed he had no future and would end up working for his mates .The boy had always avoided the front sit because he believed it was meant for brilliant people and would be asked questions if he sat down there .They had nicknamed him history boy because he was really Current about news .

Tayo was sitting at the back this morning when he heard the physics teacher Mr. Adio punishing some students outside, he picked up a book and pretended to be reading, unfortunately for him it was a physics book, before he could change it Mr. Adio was in the class already . Mr. Adio walked in and announced that he was there class teacher for the term; he spotted Tayo and then laughed and asked if Tayo was reading, he replied yes, Mr. Adio then asked him a question, surprisingly he answered correctly. Mr. Adio felt insulted and told Tayo that he would be the new class captain of SS 2B, Tayo knew this was a deliberate action to punish him, Radio went ahead to make Linda his seat mate. Tayo pretended not to be happy about this but he was, he had liked Linda since she joined his school in SS 1, he had only been opportune to talk to her during a physics practical which he was the head of her group, Adio had done that to punish him but Tayo had also practiced the practical to disappoint him . Assembly begun, the Vice Principal announced that new prefects would be chosen, they announced the name of the chosen ones, no one had expected Tayo to be there but he was obviously the best in sport and was also the best drummer in the school, he was made the sport prefect while John was made the Head boy, John was Tayo's enemy because he believed John was proud because he was brilliant .Class started, Tayo missed sitting with Akin his best friend who had begged John to let him be his Seat mate .
Mr. Alani the math teacher walked into the class, this man really liked girls and had earlier been reported by one of the parents for harassing her daughter, Mr. Alani noticed Tayo sitting beside Linda who he had also liked and became furious, he taught the class sequence and series and gave them a class work, luckily for Tayo , he has been taught in the summer school he attended . Mr. Alani flogged those who failed .

The next period was a free period, this was Tayo's best time and had always looked forward to it, he went to the school field to practice running which he has believed would be his future career even though his father wanted him to be an engineer like him .After the free period, the vice principal sent for the SS 2b class captain and told them the school would be going for a debate competition, he was surprised when he found out Tayo was the class captain, he laughed, Tayo kept his eyes focused on the ground, he wished the group had swallowed him up that day .

The competition was the next day, Tayo slept late reading what he could read because he didn't want to be mocked, he was going to be going with John and some seniors from SS 3, the day came and they went for the competition, fortunately for Tayo, Most if the questions was on current affairs, he won the competition that day .

He was made governor of his state for that day, when Tayo was made governor, he opened a sport academy and awarded a race which the winner of the race would be given five million naira and a scholarship to UK to study sport, when Tayo was told to speak, he said do not give up on your dream and don't make another Person’s dream Your Dream, He later got married to Linda who became a medical doctor
