Chinese New Year🎊

in #story7 years ago (edited)

Today begins the Chinese New Year 4716, the Year of the Land Dog according to the Chinese zodiac.
I am interested in knowing how they celebrate, so I share, something about this new Chinese celebration.

🎊 🎉 🎋 What is done in Chinese New Year? 🎊 🎆

7 days without working

As a national official holiday, most workers in China do not work for 7 days.

Pyrotechnics

If there is something that the Chinese are passionate about, it is pyrotechnics. They throw firecrackers or fireworks at 00:00.

Parades

It is quite common to see Lion and Dragon parades not only in China but in other countries with Chinese communities. The goal is for the powerful animals to drive away evil spirits.

Honor the ancestors

In addition to being the way to show them respect and to remind them of their gratitude, they are also asked to protect the new generations.

Envelopes with money

After dinner, the older relatives deliver to their young children or those who are still single from red envelopes with money inside.

Meals served

The Nianyefan dinner, similar to the Western New Year's Eve, is the most important of the year. Currently each family prepares the dishes you want, being prepared in advance. There are traditional dishes that are essential in this dinner, such as fish dishes, rice cakes and Chinese dumplings. With respect to beverages, baiju, the traditional Chinese liquor, can not be absent. 🍜

Family Visit

From the New Year until the end of the holidays, friends or relatives who live in other cities or towns are visited.

Greet with new wishes.

To wish a happy year, we must close our fist with the other hand and move it back and forth while saying "恭喜 恭喜 / Gongxi Gongxi" (it would be the equivalent of "congratulations"). Happy New Year! To congratulate the parties to your Chinese acquaintances you can also use the formula "新年 快乐 / Xin Nian Kuai Le"
Ok I have many neighbors ... I will try to practice 😄
