Ada peered out of the window as the gates before them slowly slid open.

The facade of the house it exposed screamed elegance, same as every other thing she had seen of the man who had come to collect her from the airport.

Cris must be doing really well in his estate management business. She paused her thoughts as the car door was opened by
Kensington.

She had been lost in thoughts and had not realized she had stayed longer than expected in the car which must have prompted him to open the car door. Hell, they probably thought she had been waiting for someone to do just that. Well, there would be lots of time to correct that impression later. What was it with her and giving wrong impressions today anyways?

At the moment, she returned her attention to admire the massive house but just as soon, she
felt a guiding hand at her back.

She turned slightly to find Iyke at her side, his fingers gave her back a subtle pressure as he said;

"You must be tired. Let us go in. I will give you a tour of the house as soon as you are fed and rested."

Kensington had unloaded her luggage and was in the process of taking them into the house. She let Iyke guide her inside.

The interior of the building was immaculate and tastefully furnished. She silently applauded Cris' quality taste for finery. She was very impressed. Her eyes went to the flight of stairs that no doubt led to whatever number of rooms were on the second floor.

She felt Iyke's presence behind her even before he spoke. He had quite a knack for creeping up behind someone which reaffirmed her earlier speculation that he must have had some form of military training. He held two half-filled wine glasses in his hands, one of which he handed her as he spoke.

"Mr Cris begs your pardon, he is regrettably caught up in an impromptu business meeting and wishes that I let you know he would join you as soon as he can".

Motioning to a middle-aged lady standing at a far corner of the large hallway, he continued;

"Sarah here will show you to your room as soon as you are ready. She will be at your beck and call for the duration of your stay here. If there is anything else you need which she
cannot provide, do let me know".

Sarah must have brought in their drinks and receded to that corner while she had been
engulfed in her perusal.

She took a sip of her wine, gave Sarah a nod of acknowledgement when their eyes met across the space, then answered;

"thank you. I would like to freshen up and get some rest right away".

"Very well then. I would be somewhere around the house should you need anything."

He gave a barely visible bow before leaving. On reaching Sarah, he stopped to say a few words to her, last minute instructions perhaps, before continuing on his way.

Ada watched the woman make her way to her.

She was dressed casually in a pair of blue jeans, a red blouse that appeared to have been made from quality silk and matching sneakers. She looked like she should be in her late twenties. She was a little on the plump side and had beautiful dark skin.

"Good evening ma", she greeted Ada.

"Good evening", Ada responded.

"If you will come with me please", she said as she led the way to the flight of stairs.

Ada followed her up to the second floor. They passed a few closed doors until they came to one left slightly ajar. Sarah opened the door and waited for Ada to precede her into the room.

Ada took in the king size bed well dressed in sheets that blended in with the room wallpaper in a brief glance.

"I hope the room meets your approval?"

"Yes, it does. Thank you"

"Anything else I can do for you?"

"No, that would be all for now".

"Alright ma."

Ada threw herself on the bed as soon as Sarah closed the door behind her. She would take a shower but first, she would stretch out for a little while.

Ada awoke with a start. She must have slept off without first taking a shower. She looked at her wristwatch, it read 9pm.

Taking a peek, she saw night had fallen while she slept. A pang in her stomach reminded her it has been hours since her last meal. She should have a quick shower and go downstairs for a late dinner. She wasn't one to eat late at night but today was an exception.

After having a quick bath, she descended the stairs to find a very quiet house.
