We all like to have a good scare and a good plot. However, we need more than just a jump scare and that is why this list is born. Here I name some essential video games if what you want is to scare while you let yourself be enveloped by an amazing story.

Deadly Premonition (2010)

The game allows you to control an FBI agent named Francis York Morgan, whose mission is to investigate the death of a girl named Anna Graham, in a small fictional town in the northwestern United States, called Greenvale. Keeping an unequivocal inspiration in the cult series Twin Peaks, has a rough control and pretty old graphics, however, its history is one of the best that has been seen in the history of video games.

Alan Wake (2010)

The story is set in the town of Bright Falls with the arrival of the famous writer of mystery novels, Alan Wake, who will try to discover the mystery behind the disappearance of his wife when both are on vacation in this small town in Washington State, tormented by a strange dark presence lurking in the darkness of Cauldron Lake. You'll feel like playing a Stephen King novel.

Silent Hill 2 (2001)

James Sunderland has arrived to the town of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his wife, Mary, despite the fact that she had died of an illness three years ago. A classic that several times has been in the top 3 of the best video games of all time. Its history, tragic and full of symbolism, will leave you with your mouth open.

Heavy Rain (2010)

The story centers on four different characters, connected to each other by the mysterious Origami Killer. Who is it, why does he kill children and what do the clues he is leaving mean? Little by little we will unravel the mystery, as the game takes us through the points of view of the 4 characters: a tormented father, a private detective, an agent of the FBI with withdrawal syndrome and a journalist who likes to get into messes. A much more real terror. Here you do not fear the monsters, but the fact that the story can happen to you.
