Meeting in Spain (The bookshop adventure story 7)

in #story5 days ago (edited)

Mary, Sheila, and Thomas ate an early dinner and sat down to read the book and the magazine. Mary thought emotionally that Thomas had waited for her return to read the book together.

They opened the book because it was given to them before they got the magazine. It was written by Thomas's father. He had jotted down several magical spells and explanations for cures if ever the reader of the book got hit by evil spells. Thomas tried to wave his hand in a particular way and said something the ladies did not understand. He pointed his hand towards the kitchen sink, and the utensils washed themselves. Sheila was so surprised and happy, and Mary looked amused. Thomas grinned. He turned to the next page and looked surprised, and waved his hand again. This time, he got a magical pot out of nowhere. He then muttered something, and the pot instantly brought forth chocolates and toffees. He explained that this pot would be helpful in their adventures, and they ran out of food and other necessities. Sheila and Mary were awed by all this and just hugged Thomas.

Thomas read the whole book and noted many things down. They then turned to the magazine, and in it they found an article that said that the magical couple had been located in Spain.

Thomas had learned the spell to locate a person, and they found a book about Spain. He muttered the spell, and he was shown the place in Spain where his parents might be. They all stepped in because Sheila said that she did not want to miss the adventure, but Mary had made her promise that she would not get anyone into trouble.

Does anyone know how to speak Spanish? Mary asked. Thomas said he had tried an app, but he did not make much progress. They decided to walk towards a meadow, and behind it, they saw a small cottage. Thomas noticed that some shepherds did not seem to notice that the cottage was there. It was invisible to them. Thomas had noted down the spell of invisibility, and with a wave of his hand, he turned all three of them invisible. Now, they could roam freely and not be bothered by anyone.

Thomas led the others to the cottage and knocked on the door. It was opened by a lady who looked older than his mother. "Hola". She greeted them in Spanish.
Está aquí el señor Paul? Thomas asked.
Sí, señor

She let them inside, and although it seemed like a small cottage, it was like a mansion inside. They were taken to the living room. The woman kept looking at Thomas but said nothing. Soon, a man and a woman came into the room. The woman turned pale when she saw Thomas. She burst into tears and ran forward to hug him. The man also came forward and hugged Thomas. Mary and Sheila looked at each other silently. They understood that they were Thomas's parents.

Thomas was quiet. He just smiled happily and waited for his father to talk. His mother made him sit on her lap and kept holding him tight. His father told him softly that they were forced to leave him as all of their lives were in danger. They had kept Thomas under a spell so that no one who wished to harm him could find him, but it got over on the day he had first gone to the bookshop. They were happy that he had gone on adventures and gotten the magical book of spells and the ring, and also located them. Meanwhile, the lady had brought them food and drinks.

Mary and Sheila asked the couple if they would be able to return to the real world soon so that they could live with Thomas, but Mr. Paul replied that Thomas would have to practice magic with the help of his ring and defeat the sorcerer and then only they could return to the real world otherwise they would be caught and burnt. Mr.Paul asked Thomas to seek the help of the dragon boy from Japan and the French man in the jungle before setting out to defeat the sorcerer.

Thomas was asked to return to Sheila's house quickly and bring all the important belongings back to the Paul house, and Mary and Sheila were asked to remain there. Thomas's mother could see the immediate future, and she hurried Thomas. He rushed and took the magic bowl, packed Sheila's documents, some clothes, and Mary's belongings in a suitcase and stepped through the door, and looked back to see the sorcerer and his men bringing burning torches to destroy Sheila's house. He could not do anything to prevent it. He tried to make the house invisible, but doing that would arouse suspicion. So, he rushed to his parents' house, where he told everyone what had happened.

Blessy, Thomas's mother, comforted both Mary and Sheila.

Would Thomas be able to find his Japanese friend? Would he be able to defeat the sorcerer?

To be continued...
