Stephanie was an ordinary girl. She felt even more ordinary when comparing herself to her talented classmates. For example, Marie could run fast. Philip could make up stories. Monty could dance well. Nina could sing. She did not seem to have any capabilities and was often ridiculed by her friends and even teachers.
Her parents consoled her, saying that she would discover her ability one day and her life would change forever on that day. Life went on and one day, she woke up feeling rather odd. She was late, so she hurried to her bathroom. She almost screamed out loud. Her legs were in the air and she was flying. She did not know how to land and she caught hold of a chair and almost hit her head on the wall.
Stephanie panicked and started crying. Her parents had heard the noise and came running to her. Seeing the chaos, they looked at each other and smiled. They sat beside her and then told her that she was part of a family that had magical powers. Stephanie or Steffi as she was called looked at them in wonder. Her parents explained that they could fly too. The ability was however secret and could not be revealed to humans. Otherwise, they would end up in a lab.
Steffi asked her parents to explain to her in detail about the family history. They said they would take a walk after school into the woods and tell her all they knew. She went to school and hoped that she would not fly and cause a scene. She was glowing with happiness knowing that she also had an ability. her friends and teachers asked her why she looked so happy but she gave a lame excuse. After school, she almost ran to her house.
Steffi's mother had packed sandwiches and lemonade and they walked into the nearby woods. Her neighbor asked if she could join but they politely refused.
When they were deep into the woods and away from prying eyes, Steffi's father opened to what seemed to be a grass wall and behind it was a beautiful garden house. Steffi was amazed. She hugged her parents and smiled. Inside the house, they sat down on green grass stools and before her eyes, her parents transformed into fairies. Steffi stood up and tried to but they said she could after she practiced flying.
In the coming weeks, Steffi went daily into the woods and practiced flying with the help of her parents. She soon became an expert and passed the fairy exam. She was now able to transform herself into a fairy and also adjust her size. She stopped feeling sorry for herself. Her friends and teachers had stopped bullying her because she never looked like she lacked self-confidence and always seemed to be cheerful. On the day of her final day at school, she managed to win a medal and then bid goodbye to all and walked off. Before they could say a word, she had disappeared. One girl stood shocked. She was sure she had seen Steffi turn into something small and fly with wings. She felt a breeze and looked up to see glittering dust fall on her. Steffi was now ready to save those who needed help.

Wow!! Kudos to stepi for going back to school without rubbing it in her classmates faces. I would have gone flying telling them some nice things and vanish up in the air neverto be seen again. But that would make me just a mean human with wings, right? 🤣
