Murder or Suicide

in #story8 years ago

I've been a fan of Sherlock Holmes and CSI type games for a while and I recently saw this game on the internet, Thought I'd share it with you. It's really interesting how everyone comes with different ideas and perspectives to solve the case.
Hope you enjoy it!)

Sort:

Clues

  1. Fell from chair
  2. Unplugged lamp
  3. Mid way writing a letter.
  4. Fairly neat, no broken vases etc, although ashtray semi full, not ashing on floor or anything.
  5. Cigarette ia unfinished in hand.
  6. Her body was turned AWAY from the letter when she was on the chair, moments before death.

I believe it was suicide.

She was writing a letter, with no envelopes nearby, so quite possibly a suicide note. The lamp is disconnected, unlikely by accident. She has been chain smoking or she is not neat, which does not seem to be the case by the looks of her room. Her glasses were off. At forst I thought someone entered the house, but would she take off her glasses to turn around?

One of the buggest clues is her position. It looks as though she turned away from the window and shot herself from the side. If it was somebody who just came in, wouldn't she look directly at them, and therefore get shot in the front?

Interesting idea, my only problem is, how can someone fall of the chair and still hold that cigarette. Makes me think it has been planted there after the murder has been committed to make it look like suicide, probably the letter and gun too. I was thinking it could be a boyfriend or husband that has done something wrong, felt guilty, maybe an ex, because of the flowers. A boyfriend would have the keys to her apartment and let himself in, and she didn't get up from the chair to let anyone in. she is dressed casually, so she felt at home, with no expectation of danger. I think it looks like it was suicide, too many clues for it. But if she killed herself, she would finish her last cigarette first and if she fell with the cigarette in hand, the cigarette would fall somwhere.

Murder. The gun will always pop out of the hand of a person committing suicide. Plus, she's left handed judging by the side the pen (and her drink and ashtray) was left on near the letter and the fact that she has her cigarette in her left hand. Why would she shoot herself with her right hand?

I agree, gun and cigarette wouldn't be in her hand, they were planted by the killer to make it look like suicide. The letter is most likely put there by the killer, trying to cover it up.
I wish we had more people in here to solve it :)

Totally :) Plus, if she did shoot herself with her right hand she would have fell to the other side of the stool. I think you and I got this! Just need to figure out who did it :D

I said in my previous post, I think it was a boyfriend because it had to be someone with access to her apartment. Her waiting for someone with a gun in her pajamas drinking coke and smoking doesn't make that much sense. She was probably just chilling at home waiting for the boyfriend. She has fresh flowers, he probably felt guilty for something so he bought her flowers, but now he changed his mind and killed her.. She was sitting on the chair, I don't think they were arguing. He just came in and pulled the trigger, then tried to cover it up...
But I've seen so many other theories out there. I personally think this one is the most likely. :)
Anyway I thought it was a fun game, someone with more followers should do a daily crime puzzle like this.

Murder. She holds the gun in her right hand, but the pen, cigarettes, and soda can(?) are all on the LEFT side of her paper. It'd be a little awkward to shoot with your non-dominant hand...
I think what happened was she was sitting on the bench looking out the window, and the murderer shot her from her left side. She didn't see it coming, so there was little damage to her surroundings. The murderer then had to frame the scene to make it look like a suicide. He put the gun in her right hand because the gunshot wound was on her right side. But she was left handed!!! That's where he went wrong. Then the murderer wrote the suicide note. Just the fact that the pen is on the opposite side to what is expected proves there was someone else there.
