Too Short of a Commute (original poem)

in #story8 years ago

He felt his soul and his life fade away
Into a cocktail of emotion
Mixing darkness, fear and pain
His life he’d left seemed so distant
As he longed for one more moment in it
He begged for mercy to the voice echoing in his head
He knew just what he could have done
And just where he could have been
Then overcome with guilt, remorse and sadness
Over the escape that he denied
He wished for a second chance
An appeal
Or his existence to subside
He’d not been blind all his life
But chose to cover his eyes and cloud his heart
As he lived only for himself
His thoughts became lucid and his senses peaked
And when he arrived
Sadness would have been a comfort
For he knew just where he was

Very interesting, I'd say.
